Washington Wizards star John Wall was the No. 1 overall pick, has been selected to two All-Star teams and was second-team All-Defense for a playoff team this past season, but unfortunately for him, he's being paid like a guy that's spent most of his career as a backup point guard.

While John Wall's career numbers are better than Reggie Jackson's, Jackson's numbers in 27 games with the Pistons are nearly identical to Wall's totals from last season.

"I'm getting the same as Reggie Jackson," Wall told Comcast SportsNet Washington on Tuesday, comparing himself with the Detroit Pistons point guard.

"People talk about me getting $80 million, now you got people getting $85 million that haven't made the All-Star [Game] or anything like that," Wall said. "I guess they came in at the right time. That new CBA kicked in, and they're good now. Reggie Jackson gets five years, $80 million. I'm getting the same as Reggie Jackson."

What did Wall say?

Nothing too bad. Players who signed long term contracts 2 years ago are probably feeling out of luck about now.

Wall said that he's merely noting the way times have changed and is in fact pleased that more guys are getting paid big bucks.

"But I'm happy for all those guys," Wall said. "To see anybody get the opportunity to live their dream out, get the opportunity to take care of their family when they can, it's a blessing."

I agree with Wall. It's pretty ridiculous that Wall is making the same as Jackson. Wall needs to step his game up if he wants to earn that money like Jackson has.

Wall's comment was taken out of context to produce clicks/hits during the off-season...but to me he comes off as being a victim of his own hype.

Let's be real: John Wall ain't won **** either! RJ hasn't but you don't see him talking about contracts and who is getting paid what - focus on your own game and the rest takes care of itself

 right

John Wall talking like he's KOBE or Bron with multiple meaningful career achievements, but when you look at his career, the scouting report and his lack of jumpshot has more interest than his accolades.

Wall entered the league as a 2nd tier PG (which is REALLY good for a rookie pg) but may have already been playing near his ceiling. Very weird to say about a 25 year old, 2-time All-Star. In fact I can't think of another player who entered the league as an All-Star caliber player and then never developed (excluding career injuries).

Also kinda weird to remember that not only is Reggie the same age (25) but Jennings is just 1 year older (26). If Jennings comes back and is willing to accept that 6th man role we have an absolutely insane 3 guard rotation with KCP in the mix. Insane.

i think what you mean to say was he was almost a complete player in terms of skillset at the PG position as a rookie. He's definitely developed the mental aspect of being a PG and how to play to his bball strengths. What he hasn't done is develop consistent jump shot, which will forever keep him in his tier as well as drop him a couple tiers once he's not the quick hyper athlete he is now.
