somebody has got to play big minutes from the bench. This team really lacks size and length from the bench, really no quality at the positions 3-5. The Pistons have the worst bench in the NBA so options are obviously limited :banghead:

He should be sitting with Joel Anthony at the end of the bench, as the veteran-in-case-of-emergency PF. If Jennings comes back healthy enough, I think adding another PF might be the biggest need on our roster - ideally either a 4/5 or a 4/3 so there would still be enough minutes for Ilyasova, about 25mpg.

It's just ridiculous, it really is. That this guy played 33 minutes last night and contributed close to nothing. Run Morris at the 4 if you have to, play Stanley more minutes at the 3, or give Ersan more than 20 minutes.
I don't care if Stanley is missing every single shot, i'd much rather have him out there than Tolliver.
DUDE IS shooting 32% FG and 31.9% 3PT on the season, Blake Griffin DESTROYED him twice on 2 possessions during the 3-5 minute mark in the 4th, so I don't want to hear the typical he's in there for his defense, because he is nothing special on defense.

He didn't do anything, he just happened to be in the game during our run and Van Gundy decided to roll with him.

Tolliver is a great vet and from all accounts is likely the nicest guy in the NBA.

But that's all he is at this point. His shot has turned into dust this year and although he hustles hard at help defense, his man to man defense is suspect a lot of times. I think his help defense is generally good for a player of Tolliver's caliber because he used to play a bit of center during his Warriors days. If he can teach that to our younger bigmen, I think it'd be a good presence.

Just never play him more than 20 mins.

During the game I noticed Morris got switched onto Griffin twice by accident in the 2nd half, and he forced him into a turnover both times, and I thought hmmm our best defender at forward guarding their best scorer at forward... and succeeding....why haven't we always done this?

Morris is basically the same size/strength as Blake, and a lot closer athletically than Ersan/Tolliver. I thought for sure we had finally stumbled upon the right matchup defensively and would then use that the rest of the game, except instead Stan went back to Ersan the next possession and then Tolliver the entire 4th. :-?

From now on we need to start taking more advantage of Morris as a defensive stopper at PF. Defense and 3s is the only reason Tolliver is playing and Morris is better at both right now. He should be getting all the backup PF minutes and let Stanley get more minutes at SF. I suspect that might be the plan once Jennings is back, as he will have to play some backup 2, making SJ get all his minutes at SF, making Morris play more at PF in order for both to get the same minutes as now.

Comes with SVG's biggest flaw and that's his stubbornness. I watched the whole game and I thought Baynes was doing a fantastic job covering Blake. I thought he should've left Baynes in there with Drummond. But at the same time Drummond does best with space. SVG needs to try that lineup for once. It's worth it when Baynes is playing hard.
