Isiah Thomas vs Steph curry

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Sat Jan 16, 2016 7:15 am

Bound to happen with all this talk. Article from DBB which sounds like a RealGM poster just spewing his opinion like fact. If you look at WS, the debate becomes interesting. The difference in DWS is far surpassed by the difference in OWS. Championships of course matter, but i didn't realize until almost just now that Curry's coming for IT's BPGOAT title, and boy may be skilled enough to do it

On pure talent alone I can't help but feel Steph is better. His season up to this point has been nothing short of unreal.

I think Isiah is better than his advanced stats suggest honestly, and believe he would thrive today. But Curry, this season, is better imo than Isiah ever was.

Not even reading the DBB article, ESPN's recent "all time greatest" rankings they're doing had Isiah as the #5 PG all time, behind Curry at #4 and Stockton at #3 ...

And MAGIC FREAKIN' JOHNSON railed against those rankings on Twitter, saying it was a joke that Isiah was behind both Stockton and Curry (while reminding everyone that he played against Isiah when he dropped 25 in a quarter in the finals on one leg).

So, respectfully, I submit that my opinion means little. But those arguing against my opinion also happen to be arguing against the opinion of MAGIC JOHNSON.

(And by the way, if Isiah ever got to play in his prime in an NBA with today's anti-hand checking, pro-offense rules? Yeah, he would've been unstoppable.)

Pretty much agree. But if these lists are based on career, Curry is way too high.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I feel Isaiah would carve up Curry as a player today. Curry can definitely shoot better, but when it comes to dribbling, dishing assists, playing defense and leading a team, Isaiah is most definitely the better player. Curry probably wouldn't last in the physical game they played back then. Zeke would tear it up in current times.
