That said, as others have mentioned, there is questionable fit (fits better than Monroe, worse than Ersan) and it would limit our possibilities in free agency (although those may also be limited by other factors).

i dont think that is accurate. i think thad has more value to jennings for some teams, and less to others.

Many teams dont want a smallish 4 if he isnt shooting 3s or shooting efficiently. some teams could use a point gaurd.

some teams 8 million expiring is more attractive then 3/36

thad young isnt that much better on the floor then jennings. and i think he doesnt "fit" as universally as jennings does

this isnt really relevant. if that was what thad gave you every night he would be a top 10 nba player. highlights can make anyone look good:

I am familiar with what highlights are, thanks

I posted those to give people an idea of what his game is like and what he is capable of at his best, for those unfamiliar with him.

Appreciate your off base assumptions though.

He's no shooting range, he's undersized and he's not a good defender. Nope, thanks.

Also, wouldnt make sense for the Nets to trade for a guy who they could just sign in free agency and still keep Thad. I don't see this happening at all unless the Nets are getting a pick back.

Value of a contract is not independent of team situation. While in a vaccum thads contract is a good one, it DOES prevent the nets from offering 2 max deals in free agency. also, the cap going up actually makes good contracts less important. when there is LESS money to spend, having bargains is more important, not the other way around.

For isntance, would the nets be better off overpaying a good player, or underpaying an average one? in our situation, id say overpaying a good one, since we have such poor talent on the roster.

im not saying the nets should dump thad in a straight salary dump. but if we can get a pick and 6-8 million in cap releif in a deal for him thats a move we should certainly consider.

also, keeping thad and signing jennings would be a bad idea. too much of our cap would be going to average players who wont get us back to the playoffs. and trading for jennings would likely do us better as an expiring

I posted that about the contract because I just wanted to point out that the Nets wouldn't do a trade just to get out of Thads contract like I saw a few posts say.
