In other words he should be penetrating and passing to KCP/Morris/Ersan for 3s, as opposed to them penetrating and passing to him for 3s. That's playing to guys strengths instead of weaknesses. Problem isn't Reggie's movement off-ball, it's that he needs better 3pt shooters to pass to when on-ball imo

But that isn't realistic Reggie can't have the ball in hands more he already has a high usg% hes gonna has to play off the ball sometime. Plus him having the ball more would just make the offense even more predictable than it already is.

To clarify, when I say he needs the ball more I'm talking in comparison to the last few weeks, where his usg% has decreased from ~30% in oct-dec to 26% in jan. I think he might need the ball more to get his rhythm.

If trying to determine why he hasn't played as good the last few weeks, that's one of the main differences that might be the cause.

When he's been at his best at the end of last year and oct-dec this year, his usage was 29.3% & 29.5% respectively. That seems to be the optimal rate for him and 26% might be too low.

But I haven't been able to watch him play since he got traded to Detroit. So i was wondering how good he's been for you guys. Is he playing like an all-star, or is he putting up "somewhat empty stats"?

Reggie has been tremendous for us. He has had some career games and some terrible ones. He's single handedly willed us to victory and been part of the reason we've fallen short because of his poor defensive effort.

Star in the making.

not the same usage rate. RJ is 4th among PGs, Teague 17th.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

The rest of the team isn't talented enough to win with a Teague-like point guard.

As for preference, that really depends on how the rest of the team is constructed. With Detroit in particular they're probably not going to attract big offensive pieces in free agency nor does it seem like they're ever going to wind up drafting high enough to get one of those elite scoring prospects. So a point guard who can make things happen like Jackson, even if he's dominating the ball, is probably the best fit.

Everything looks nice, that Assist % could be up. Could be do to players missing shots.

I'm not high on Reggie for the role he's in, but he's a good player. I'm glad he's got his set 3 back going (37%) like he did in college. That has really helped him and sometimes bailed him out of what were bad performances otherwise.

He's still an ideal secondary ball-handler getting top tier ball-handler usage though. He's nowhere near the players in his stat bracket talent-wise.
