He's already on his way, hence why he agreed to a buyout. I wonder what number he'll wear?

Re: Ty Lawson
Given Stan and Jeff's personel moves, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt at this point on and trade/signing, however I don't think Lawson comes here. He goes to BKLN for playing time or to a legit contender sorta deal.

I would say New York. They are desperate for PG's lately and had many PG's linked to them before the trade deadline and didn't get any.

Supposedly they ruled him out according to a GB/TB post. Could be an issue of trying to learn/play triangle for 25 or so games not being worth it.

I could see the Pistons making a phone call and that's it I doubt we sign him and I doubt he comes here anyway. I think more than likely as sign either McCollum or Thornton or both and cut Anthony.

Re: Ty Lawson
There were rumors in the offseason the Pistons were interested in Lawson before he got traded to Houston. So it would make some sense and i think it could be a good fit too. But then again with Tolliver out backup PF is the bigger need at the moment. PG is also the most important position in SVG system and Blake is doing fine on offense in short spurts. Obviously Lawson would be an improvement here and if Tolliver is back i would definitely give him a try if no one else has signed him yet.

Re: Ty Lawson
Heres the thing. Lawson would be an outstanding back-up point guard and would fit in perfectly with Stans own "Starters on the bench" style but he comes with a mountain of baggage.
Do we want a volatile older doesnt fit into the core age-wise, and to be frank, drunk, influencing the core of this very young team in the wrong way?
On the other hand Marcus was in legal trouble and has been nothing but brilliant here and I believe in 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances.
He's a damn fine PG but he would HAVE to accept a bench role, period.

Not sure why there is a discussion on this part. No one is going to offer Lawson a starting job in the NBA. He will only be a backup moving forward (or in an extreme case, a buffer starter before the younger one takes over).
And, yeah, Lawson would make a fine backup here.

I am not arguing your point that he will be a backup, more that he has to know that.rmfc wrote:zeebneeb wrote:He's a damn fine PG but he would HAVE to accept a bench role, period.

Can he even accept that? Can we risk team unity and coming together if we have a player who will not accept his role?

Zeeb seriously, why do you even think for one second there would have to be even one word of conversation spent on getting him to understand that he would be coming off the bench? If the phone rings and it's a 313 area code, he already knows this is for a backup role before the phone is answered.

he's going to come off the bench for the Indiana Pacers

Barring any team calling him that just lost their starting PG due to injury with 23 games left on the season, Lawson understands that wherever he goes this season, he will be a backup.
