In a bit of an upset Wade Baldwin won the poll for the eight spot on Detroit's big board. Still a bunch of forwards left to (eventually) choose from. If anybody was wondering I'm choosing the poll prospects based off of DraftExpress' rankings, although not strictly in order.
Who's your pick for the #9 player on Detroit's big board?
1. Ben Simmons
2. Brandon Ingram
3. Dragan Bender
4. Jamal Murray
5. Kris Dunn
6. Buddy Hield
7. Marquese Chriss
8. Wade Baldwin
9.
10.

Davis, He would be a nice fit as a 4/5 with nice defensive potential

Skal. Seems to work hard and have good character. Great height and length, can play either post position, seems to have a steady jumper, has good footwork and moves well. He could add some strength/weight, sure, but the rest of his flaws appear to be coachable and should be addressed with experience and guidance. If some are hype about Thon Maker at 18, I can't see why they wouldn't be about Labissiere just 9 spots ahead, who's ahead of the curve on his development.

Yeah, if you like Maker you should like Labissiere as well. They're somewhat close as prospects. It goes the other way too though. I'm probably as low on Skal as I am on Thon.
Labissiere in particular make me hesitate. For all of his potential as a being an ideal fit as the increasingly popular stretch five can you actually play him there with how atrocious his rebounding is? I have serious doubts. Even as a stretch four he would be terrible in that regard, although for the Pistons in particular with Drummond down low it's not as huge of a negative. It doesn't seem to be something that will project to get better either because he's just as soft mentally as he is physically. That makes me wonder about his ability to really protect the rim as well. Skal will block shots, but if the physicality (any form of it) isn't there...

The same could easily have been said about Maker if he actually played ball in college or overseas, but he gets a pass there for now since that didn't happen and is a big unknown.
