Re: Welcome Spencer Dinwiddie
Whether he plays this year or not, I am excited about Dinwiddie getting picked. He seems like a confident, high IQ and character guy that I'm sure is eager to learn. Definitely could be a nice piece for the future who can play a role and was definitely worth the 38th pick in my opinion!

Re: Welcome Spencer Dinwiddie
I've been gone for a few days and didn't get a chance to comment. (Did the loss of the first round pick make some folks testy?)
A good second round pick. Fairly highly regarded prospect prior to the injury. Pistons are gambling that he can remain athletic enough to play his game in the NBA, and stay reasonably healthy in the future. Some do, some don't... First game as PG aside, he showed nice feel for the game a lot of times. Okay, he and Brandon Knight are actually pretty smart guys, but I'm not sure that comparison should be used to predict failure? He can shoot some and create some, and a versatile big guard is a nice thing to have.

"Do I think I would get guaranteed money in the second round? I do," Dinwiddie said. "But do I think I am a first-round caliber player? Yeah. I understand that it is a business and there are more prospects, but when you break it down and look at size, intangibles, any advanced statistic, I am the best one in the draft at my position."

Smart projects a bit better, and maybe Payton too, but he isn't far off.Blkbrd671 wrote:"Do I think I would get guaranteed money in the second round? I do," Dinwiddie said. Did he say 6'6" 235?? They had him listed at 205. 235 would even make this a better pick. He could easily guard 1-3 with that size.

No, he said 6'6 "two-oh-five"

Re: Welcome Spencer Dinwiddie
Well...he had some opportunities and didn't really make the most of it. Outplayed John Wall & Derrick Rose in back to back games his rookie year and then never really did anything after that.
He may got another shot at some point, but the biggest disappointment was his shooting, or lack thereof. He doesn't really do anything well.

its his 3rd or 4th season in the league. He needs time to develop. He was doing really well on the Drive before injury. I really think he'll become a nice player at some point. I do question his work ethic as his jump shot is still suspect

No.
We literally traded him away for nothing because he wanted a opportunity somewhere else.
