First, after having read the last two pages let me address a few things;

MCW is a unique talent, but he absolutely cannot shoot the ball. This can be overcome with having good, to great shooters around him;

MCW
Bullock
Morris
Harris
Leuer

This would help him shine. Problem is, that leaves two of our very best players on the bench, and even if MCW is added as a bench PG, extreme caution must be used in lineups with MCW. You can use Pope and Andre, but Pope is a streak shooter so far, but using Andre would use Williams drive talents to the utmost.

When discussing Williams you also have to discuss his mental weakness. Very turnover prone, often commiting them at the worst possible times, something that has to be taken into account. He often makes silly mistakes and fouls a lot for his position.

He is capable of having amazing games, and like someone has said, his confidence has been crushed making his career outlook complicated at best.

Now, is he worth it for Baynes+filler? Absolutely. I would feel a hell of a lot more confident with ish+MCW until Jackson returns, instead of ish+d-league. We know how bad a lot of other available PG's are out there, so taking a chance on MCW is a low risk, high reward scenario.

Secondly, Baynes is not a massive factor in this teams development. Would I like to keep him? Absolutely but it would seem there is zero chance if this so if the team can add another player at a position of need, you do it without question.

Also, when Andre goes to he bench, a lineup of leuer at Center gives the team an amazing small ball lineup if Boban can only play a few minutes a night as he may not be ready for full backup duty.

In the end it would seem that the Pistons are absolutely going to lose Baynes for nothing at the end of the year so you move him. If a better trade comes along for a better player, you do it of course but MCW was rookie of the year, and is a dynamic player.

Thumbs up from me.

Yeah I will definitely trade for MCW if that's the price. I'm not a big fan of him but what your giving up for a young player with his limitations I would usually always do.

Return to Detroit Pistons
