Yes, Hillary has done some absolutely terrible things and I am in no way defending her... I simply find Trumps misogynistic bigotry to be even worse. It's up to each individual to decide which issues matter most to them - for me social equality is at the top of the list and I'm scared to death to watch us regress as a nation back to our confederate days of hatred and persecution. Especially after 8 years of social progress.

Clearly many of you feel differently, as is your right. I simply hope that in your earnest support of your candidate and the ideals which you believe most important that you don't lose sight of the very important ideal of social equality. We are all human, regarldess of sex, race, religious belief or sexual orientation. We are one people. Or at least we should be.

Appreciate you always adding value to the conversation.

It's something great to read very argued opinions and people explaining his point of view. Guys you're the real deal and I hope you would transform your country soon, not giving the elites what they want, but trusting the process even if they don't want him as president.

What's the point of replying or reading his post if you don't care though, in a thread relating to politics no less?

Anyway I think Cow's PoV is a very reasonable, though I don't entirely agree. I do not believe that Trump is truly a racist or a misogynist, in spite of his comments. I think moreso than anything he's just extremely immature. People come after him and he retaliates in a way that a teenager would, going overboard with very childish behavior and inexcusable insults. I can't really articulate it too well, but I think behind every one of his controversial comments there is some glimmer of good intention.

The tech advisor he recently hired is a gay man, his campaign manager is a woman, and it appears pretty likely that he will be working with Ben Carson (who happens to be a black man) in some capability as well. Immature, and too extreme with the things he says? Very much. An evil, hateful dictator as the media is propping him up to be? I don't think so. I am hopeful that people will be pleasantly surprised in regards to what kind of man he really is. He's not Bernie but he's not Hilary either.

I wonder how many players and coaches will show up to meet President Trump when they win a championship. Bird snubbed Reagan. Would Trump even want players at the White House? Nixon didn't.

I voted for Trump, and am obviously thrilled with the result. With that said, SVG and Pop articulated their feelings well, and I totally respect that. It's America, and American to disagree.

Here's hoping people return to being level-headed as soon as possible....... (I know, witty replies coming soon) :P

Can you explain to an outsider why you voted for Trump?

Here in Oz we didn't really get much "normal" stuff out of him - it was the usual sensational rubbish

Heaven forbid we get fair and balanced "news"

Sure - very simply put, I liked his stance on the issues. Google Trump's 100 day plan and see if you agree.

I totally understand the "he's a despicable man" argument, but Hillary Clinton put our National Security at risk. It doesn't matter to me which is worse, this wasn't Jesus Christ versus Mother Teresa.

Regardless of what side of the fence you stand on I thought that the following article was excellent and applies everywhere:

Blame your party, Clinton, Wasserman, and the rest of the goons. Not every person that voted Trump is "uneducated", that smug opinion of others is what turned people away from that joke of a party to begin with. Bernie Sanders was the best candidate we ever had and you guys **** all over him. So... some of us voted against you. Not voting wasn't enough, we voted against you. Had nothing to do with being racist, sexist, or any of that. The party is corrupt and it's time to pay for what you've done. Those that support that pile of **** party, I laugh at. Have a great night, I'll be here all week.. Politics in a basketball forum is the last **** thing I want to see here too.

Well said Hans, I used to vote Democrat as well but that party is just lost. Clearly all the blue collar workers have had enough of that party and their corruption and went to Trump as a way to give them the middle finger cause at the very least he gave that majority of people a voice to show the frustration towards crooked politics. The Democrats with this whole scream racist or sexist is just nauseating at this point and the people see through it at this point whether they are using as a shield or a pandering tool for the minority.

My thoughts exactly.

I normally will never post about politics but this is a little different.

I am a firm independent voter. I have voted in every single election since I was able to, and my votes have been all over the place. Gore, bush, obama, romney, I always try and vote the person, and not the party as I feel people live in their own little worlds, especially online where they only hear their own opinions, and think everyone does, or should think like them.

This is the very first election ever for me that I did not vote it. Both candidates were just horrible and I couldn't bring myself to vote.(not on anything. I was that disgusted) I stood and stared at the building, eventually wandering off.

Of this I will note;

Online it seems more people are left-leaning (liberal) and in "real life" most are right-leaning(neo-con) why do I say this?

This election saw a huge outcry after Trump was elected over a myriad of reasons, but people need to understand these facts;

1.)The Republican party has more power then it has had since Calvin Coolidge was president. (1928)

2.)Democrats only control 15 state legislatures which is just enough to veto a constitutional amendment. (14 would mean republicans could propose constitutional amendments and get them passed with ease, and that's absolutely unheard of)

3.)31 states have Republican governers. (18 dem, 1 independent!)

This election cycle puts an absolute stamp on America's repudiation of the Democratic party. This isn't just about the presidency (which we all know democrats only come out for but not this time seemingly) this is about all of this outcry over Trump becoming president when it is a matter of fact, the whole country changed around certain people and they never took notice.

Times have certainly changed in the past 8 years, and will change again. Next time I am hoping others actually pay attention. Democrats have to change with the times or they face a horrible slow political death.
