Technically correct. But SVG is the team president and in charge of everything. He has full control over Bower, and Bower has no control over him. So OP's point has merit.

Yeah, it's not like team president Van Gundy is going to let Bower fire coach Van Gundy. But I don't think it would come to that anyways. Stan is still one of the better coaches in the NBA. Detroit isn't going to get somebody better... especially if they move on from another coach so soon in his tenure again.
