None. CP is a 31 yr old star on a team that claims to want to compete for a title. It's not like we have a young stud on a rookie contract to entice them into an earlier rebuild.

And really, from our end, even if they would bite on a deal that packaged a bunch of our core guys for CP, what would that leave us? Certainly not a title contender.

CP3 would never come here, but I'd definitely want to see him in a Pistons uniform. He's one of the best PGs in the league, and still has a few good years left in him. Most teams in the league would want him on their roster, and the Pistons are no exception.

This. Biglip has always been a little pie-in-the-sky in his thinking about things like this, but this is a little out there even for him.

And yeah, he's also 31. There's no viable path there, not that we've got one now, and not that we'd have anything enticing to offer LA.

his max will be like $36M for the FIRST year. no thanks. he wouldnt come here anyways. if he doesnt stay in LA, hes probably a spur or pelican again. and both teams have work to do, to make that happen.

Chicago is the spot for CP3 - don't know if they can swing it though

I'd have to believe CP3 is going to take the full max (there's a reason him and lebron negotiated up the max age for a max deal).

If he's willing to leave money on the table, he should join Kwahi on the Spurs.

The most interesting "could result in a title" play for him IMO is Milwaukee. If they added him to the Giannis & Middleton core they could be very interesting very quick in the East.

Good point. And having been beaten up in the West for so long, there are a few teams in the East that could expect to go to the ECF if they had CP3. Pistons included.

Especially now I could see CP3 to the Spurs....
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

He could easily take next to nothing to join the Warriors or Cavs

But I would imagine the Spurs are front runners IF he's leaving money on the table.

1 - Pop

2 - he'd still be a significant starter & have to fight for it.

It amazes me that after all these years big gun free agents don't move East where the path to the Finals is significantly easier.

Spurs, Warriors, Clippers, Houston can have a death match BEFORE facing Lebron...who walks through the East relatively unscathed!

Westbrook should move East!

CP3 should move East!

A bunch of guns should move East!

But it doesn't happen

Everyone knows there's a silent epidemic in this country. It can only be solved if Chris Paul teams up with Mason and Legal Genius.

I think guys are afraid of Lebron.

Beyond that, where are you going in the East? Miami, sure. The Knicks and Nets have been run like tire fires for decades. Where else? Only 1 premier player in the league sees appeal in the Cavs. The Bulls, sure, but they haven't exactly been run that much better than the Knicks. The Celtics have prestige, but Boston isn't exactly a destination city for basketball players (if you catch my drift). Detroit, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Indianapolis is just a bunch of "meh" (on par with Cleveland, you'd need a special guy with ties to the area to lure them). Toronto is cold and another country, the 76ers aren't trying, the Wizards have been historically poorly run as have the Hawks and the Magic seem to just be a stepping stone, not a final destination.

Through the history of premier guys moving in FA, you basically already need 1 star before you can entertain the idea of a 2nd coming aboard, outside of maybe Giannis, maybe Paul George (who wants to leave) and maybe Jimmy Butler (a team that should do better than it has in FA), who do guys want to join up with in the East?

ATL when they had Horford & Millsap & Teague

KD should have gone to Boston

Bulls when they had Rose, Noah & Thibs

Horford or IT should have joined our team

Pacers were damn good for a long while and no one sacrificed anything to go there

Bucks last off-season should have been a destination

Miami will always be a destination as long as Riley is there

could go on but the reality is the best players wanna be on the best teams and go toe to toe with the best

And thats why dudes don't come East - there is no competition

Beat me to it.

Nobody wants to play LeBron when it's not in the finals. He's been to 6 straight conference finals for a reason. Playoff LeBron is a whole different animal and the only player that would successfully accept the challenge would be Kawhi.

Before GSW got KD, you could say there were 2 or 3 teams that could give GSW pre KD a run for their money. I wonder how that dyanmic changes in the offseason.

Barring any injury, it's Lebron vs whoever makes it out in the West.

Tbh I would really like for us to somehow to magically pick up Chris Paul. He'd bring a veteran leadership that this team is LACKING. This team would overall run smoother and we'd see less occurances of wanting to turn our TVs off from lack of heart. We could draft a pg to sit and learn behind CP3. As lovely as this sounds, it will never happen.
