Re: yall better go somewhere with that drummond trade talk
"It's hard to look at the Warriors and the way they play and not say that's the (very near) future though. I don't think it's just powered by superstars either, but that helps a ton obviously. Just guys that fit exceedingly well."
Yeah, people say that about a new team every couple of years though. The league changes and it changes fast.
I think the league obviously wants more motion and "free movement" is here to stay on the perimeter. Lots of teams try that though with mediocre results. If you don't have multiple superstars that can all put it on the floor, pass and shoot ---- then you end up looking more like the Hawks than the warriors.
As far as dre fits, he has all the physical tools to be able to play great post defense AND great perimeter defense. He hasn't shown much inclination to consistently do either though. It isn't like he is some plodding traditional center. He's got great quickness and led all centers in steals (both total and per48). If he ever really committed to it, he would be incredibly disruptive on defense.

I would keep Drummond, maybe for one of the top two picks, if you can move Jackson too. He's an elite talent, who very young and a proven late bloomer. I want to deal KCP, Morris and Ish for the third pick, that's a good deal for both teams, philly at least I initially wins. Three starters for a unproven 3rd pick.

No way philly touches that

Is this the thread where I'm supposed to start hoping and believing that Dre is going to improve his FT% and defense?
Dre's +/- for the season was a team worst -274
Baynes +/- for the season was a team best +136
Not sure what that says, but it doesn't look good.
I don't think a trade for a top 3 pick is realistic at the moment. I think something like:
Dre to Charlotte for Plumlee, Lamb or Marvin Williams, #11, + future protected first
is more realistic. I'm on the fence on that, but it feels like we are driving in the wrong direction so I'd seriously consider it. I'd probably pull the trigger on anything that nets us a legit 2-way player (Bledsoe) or a top 10 pick.
The other factor is how easily can we replace Dre? The soft market for traditional centers and the fact that solid starters like Favors and Lopez may be available for cheap definitely makes trading Dre a serious option, imo.

That's exactly the thing though - he hasn't shown much inclination to any of that. Andre might as well be a plodding traditional center with the way he plays out on the court. The mental side being the lacking part is much worse than being physically lacking.
Leading all centers in steals is not a good thing with the way he gets them. Drummond constantly gets himself out of position or tries and double up on players he shouldn't. Great, it gets him some steals but lets the defense down far more often than not.
For what it's worth the Hawks are a pretty bad example for the point you're trying to make when they're starting Millsap and Howard at the big spots.

Drummond is a low IQ player I doubt he ever learns how to play defense watching him he does some of the dumbest things on that side of the ball. When freakin' Baynes that's inferior to Drummond in every way physically is better on defense somethings up big time.

Feeding Dre in the post is not a sin if he earns it by getting deep position... By now we should expect more Shaq and less Austin Daye. His conversion rate is above average under 8 feet.
Larry Brown was able to turn Ben into a nonliability early in games. This prevented teams from cheating.
Andre has better post skills than Been. It's not saying much but completely ignoring him results in playing 4 on 5.

Why should he? Going at half speed and playing hard 15mpg made him $120million. He doesn't have work hard the rest of his life and can just go through the motions.

He doesn't though. And then proceeds to gain no ground at all when posting up, which results in him quickly going to his awful hook. If Andre got himself into better position to finish closer to the rim he would be a far better offensive player even with his free throw issues. That's not the case though and he hasn't shown much indication of doing otherwise.

Exactly his preferred position is posting 15 foot away clogging driving lanes.

I don't know which sport I'd follow outside of basketball. Maybe Michigan teams. There's a reason for bandwagon fans guys, it's not fun watching the pistons anymore just to see them lose no matter what they do. In my opinion I've wasted time watching poor hot garbage basketball instead of real talent on the court. But then again I don't get the same rush with great teams. Pretty stupid overall.
I know all of that but I'm still addicted to watching the Pistons. I actually find more enjoyment watching them than the Finals right now because I'm emotionally invested in one team and not the others.
That's the case with me too but I also love basketball the sport. It's a beautiful sport and I'm wasting it watching useless talent not going anywhere. Jackson was fun to watch offensively but after watching Kyrie play the way he did? It's ridiculous. It's a fight between watching Pistons or good basketball. I think we'll get there but it won't be great with these weak characters on the team. Jackson needs to go, Drummond needs to grow up.

No team is giving up a top 10 draft pick for Andre Drummond.

Re: yall better go somewhere with that drummond trade talk
Drummond obscure side note:
The VP of Human Resources where I work has a barn with horses and a barn manager. The barn manager said that someone from the Pistons' front office called him looking for a black horse to be used for pictures with Andre Drummond, and heard that she (the owner) had one. She has no clue how someone in the Pistons' front office knew about her/got the number, but apparently her horse is going to be used for the pictures.
So now at some point when you see pictures of Andre Drummond and a black horse, you can say, "Hey--I know a guy who knows the woman who owns that horse!"

So is this how Andre is gonna be spending his offseason?

Exactly! For some reason it's hard to get the RealGM Pistons board members to realize that if we held the wing players accountable, they would improve their shooting selection. How can we blame Andre Drummond when we are in dereliction of our own duties?
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.
