Windhorst has his LeBron/Rich Paul/Klutch Sports source. Anyway, it is somewhat disappointing. I just had a secret thought: "What if we could dump Reggie Jackson for nothing, play Avery at PG, and resign KCP?" Definitely not happening, though.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

It seems likely that KCP won't be a Piston next season now that we got Bradley. I'd still like to swing a sign and trade if possible. Maybe KCP doesn't want to play for BKN or another rebuilding team?

It would be great to trade KCP to a decent team, and get something back in return. It doesn't have to be equal value, but to essentially lose him and Mook for Bradley is a tough deal.

This trade was a siren call out to the rest of the league that KCP could be had for a S&T now. It's in KCP's court if he wants to tke a fair contract to play for a contender/good team or chase the money and play for Brooklyn or rebuilding Atlanta.

Also we can only match a $15M offersheet, so this takes a lot of leverage away from Rich Paul in that Brooklyn or Atlanta doesn't need to offer the max in order to scare us out of matching. They could offer 19M now and very likely get him as we wouldn't match.

Before it was always using our absolute need to keep him or have nothing against a max offer from another team to try and steal him. Now we don't NEED to match anymore. If Atlanta or Brooklyn doesn't want him then it's basically one suitor left at silly money, or Rich Paul works with us on a S&T destination.
