Wonder if they offered KCP this contract first? I'm sure Rich Paul would have leaked it if that was the case.

Rich Paul doesn't want people to think teams only want KCP for 71/4.
I doubt Paul would even leak that the Knicks were interested since they couldn't give a max deal.

Oh I'm sorry I thought you wanted to win instead of tank. The team needs a consolidation trade not to use a TPE to bring in 2 more bench players. The biggest problem this team has is that it pays role players too much and its overpaid stars are too young.
Mook - $5mil
Ish - $6mil
Galloway - $7mil
Bobo - $7mil
Jon - $10mil
Which guy(s) are overpaid?
SJ, Henry & Kennard are on rookie deals...that's 8 guys.
Dre, RJ, KCP & Tobias aren't the overpaid role players you were referring to

What is the team payroll? What is the salary cap?
I'm sure an argument can be made for or against any player. That is not the point. The point is that the Pistons have a top 5 payroll and they are not a top5 team so someone is over paid.
That someone is Drummond!
If you sign a C and PG and Forward to max contracts how much of bench should you really need?
We have ONE Max contract right now - not 3!
And asking how much of a bench you really need is kinda silly considering every team runs 9-10 man rotations, including the elite.
IMHO we are 2 max contract all star players away so we need to be about 40 mil under the cap. Instead we are over the cap by 20 mil so we have about 60 mil in over paid players.
Where's the $60 mil in overpaid players?
I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle dude:
The vast majority of our roster isn't overpaid - the drama is the pieces haven't fit

He's probably signing for more than the MLE because TO is trading Joseph who is due close to 8M, so Miles can sign deal starting at $10M.

If the reported numbers are true, 25 mil for 3 years, thats not more than the MLE, its not even the full MLE i think. Thats only 4 mil more than Galloway got.

That's close to the full MLE. But it is a bit less. So the issue then becomes that he could have signed for that money with any team having the full non-tax payer MLE and chose Toronto. It takes two to tango afterall and he likely went to the best team offering the MLE.
I would have rather had him here no doubt, assuming he would have been remotely open to coming here for the same contract. Also consider though that we had Mook here up until a week ago and Reggie's wonky knee means we'd be Ish and what? Beno Udrih again on the vets minimum?

Re: Free Agency
I knew the Galloway signing was going to look progressively worse as the offseason went on.
The season hasn't even started yet and its already aged terribly. And it was an ugly duckling to start with.

Lol never give Stan cap space.
That's the lesson I learned so far. He can trade relatively well and drafting...the juries still out but meh.

He just needs to stop being so generous with the years.
It's like Stan gets tunnel vision on "his guy" and then feels like he has to offer a deal they can't possibly turn down.

For what it's worth I highly doubt Detroit would have gotten Miles for that kind of money. He becomes the obvious starter at the three in Toronto now on a team that's top four in the East. Neither would have been or are true in regards to the Pistons.

Re: Free Agency
The Pistons didn't extend him a qualifying offer, but they still have his bird rights if the intent was to sign him for more than the BAE.
