I don't know if I've ever had more sympathy for a star player wanting off of their team as I do for Melo. If I were him I'd want the hell out of there too.

While I agree, I'm also still a little salty about him forcing a trade to them in the first place and our guy Chauncey getting dragged along with him. But, that's part of the game I 'spose

"Oh it was hard, hardest thing I've ever had to do", Billups said. "I had to tell my girls that daddy was traded, that he was leaving to play across the country. I told them it wasn't my choice, that nothing could be done about it. I had to go. It wasn't a happy scene."

Perry will definitely trade him, but they were getting crud offers for him as I think GM's were trying to take advantage of acting GM in NY. I think Perry will sit down with Melo and promise to trade him during the season to a contender but it's not in NYK's best interest to trade him now unless the offers improve. Perry will do a near complete rebuild and if he wants to start refurbishing the NYK's reputation with other players he'll do Melo a solid and move him to a good situation. I bet Melo ends up in Cleveland now.

Perry might as well keep Melo and let him walk next season and use that cap space then instead of taking back contracts on their cap.

Perry is trying to get Melo to expand his list of teams he would accept a deal to.

I've long thought Washington makes a lot of sense, something around a Gortat / Oubre / contract filler for Melo deal.

A small ball crunch time lineup of Wall / Beal / Porter / Melo / Markieff could look pretty interesting.
