I've always known he can't defend so a off night altogether isn't shocking.

He's never been held to any standards higher than a offensive scorer in my book. Which he has become very efficient at so it's whatever.

He's got some tunnel vision though once he starts driving. Very rare you see him create for anyone while attacking.

Just watched the game.

Bullock was solid again, had some great plays on defense and was efficient on offense.
Andre carried us again. Luke had some amazing passes and shot well, I wish he had played more minutes.
Reggie and Tobias were a complete disaster. Ish has been playing bad, Stanley and Galloway played well off the bench and I really like Moreland's energy and rebounding, he had 2 great blocks this game.

We need Tobias to be the scorer he was a few weeks ago, if he continues to be inconsistent, we'll continue to be a bad team.

I was at the game, and Moreland provided a great deal energy and hustle plays. Blocked a few shots and altered several others, had really good movement and switch offs defensively, and grabbed some boards and kept a few others alive with tips to where his teammates were able to gather in.

I'm honestly surprised it took til page 10 in this thread for someone to mention something positive about him. I guess people will only remember Sabonis posterizing him and think he had a bad game because of it.

Oh well, I'm happy with the W. Detroit was fortunate to pull it out with Bradley being out and going absolutely ice cold in the 4th quarter

Just watched SVG’s post game. And I gotta say, I get vibes he just dislikes Stanley. Dude asks him about how well Stanley played and he kinda just makes it about kennard. I hope I’m wrong but Stanley will not grow here and if that’s the case, I hope he gets a chance on another team. Pop would turn him into an all star IMO. And I don’t think that’s an exaggeration.

Solid win. The East looks like a jungle for the playoff race.

That was a painful 4th, I barely made it through it. But André got us through it and if you’d have told me before the match that Bradley was out and Tobias would shoot 2-14 on a b2b away to a good pacers team, I would have guessed a blowout

I think it’s an exaggeration. Coaches refine talent; they can’t create it.

Stanley has talent and an NBA body. He has court vision and is a tenacious defender. There’s a reason the spurs wanted him.

He probably winces in pain every time he thinks about the players he took him over, and see's an immature guy who can't shoot, dribble, or play team defense.

Not realizing he would have Devin Booker chained to the bench for not playing defense with a broke shot because he's pulled every time he shoots it if anybody else higher on the pecking order was open on the floor, or he misses.

Stanley seems to play better in the new role, and Bullock too. Maybe SVG isn't an idiot after all? Kennard's production in relatively short minutes deserved recognition (those rebounds and assists?). Mitchell is a fine player and I expected him to be the draft selection. However, Kennard is working his way towards more time. It's a long season.

Honest question: If Stanley Johnson was playing on another team, would you have any realistic hope that he'll ever be more than a bench player on a good team?

Where SJ is concerned agreeing to what's realistic would be the problem. Had you asked me last year whether there was any realistic hope that Drummond would ever be anything but a disaster at the FT line I'd have said it seems unlikely. So far offensively, not so good for SJ. Still, he is very young. Maturation may yet affect his game positively. Were he playing on another team it's unlikely I'd be paying close enough attention or getting a large enough sample to render a meaningful opinion.

Bet if he got consistent minutes and was allowed to make mistakes he would be a net positive. Essentially if he was able to get the reign leur got, he would be a totally different player.

I can see where you're coming from. But, as a rookie he had a pretty long leash. Mostly out of necessity, as our bench was terrible that season. But, he was still objectively bad- but we all gave him a pass because he was a rookie. We're in year 3, and there has been no discernible improvement on offense.
