A front office change, eh? What the ****'s that going to do for a team that has zero room to maneuver within the salary cap?

Stan can walk away with his full final year paid, or come back and coach for that money but be fired mid-season. His whole reason for coming here was to have total control so he couldn't be fired mid-season when the GM sided with a player over the coach. Basically Stan is saying "nope - fire me and pay me fully".

At this point I think Gores needs to fire him. We know an extension isn't on the table and you don't want a lame duck coach who you stripped of FO power anyways - the players will know exactly what is up. Stan won't put himself in such a situation. If Stan comes back as coach only it will be with a contract extension and the new GM probably wouldn't want to give it.

Word is the "shake up" is firing Jeff Bower. If that's the case and SVG remains as president and coach I'm not going to bother watching another minute of the Pistons this season. One, they're not much fun to watch anyway. Two, I'd keep seeing SVG on the screen.

Thing is there is no firing of Bowers, his contract is up. So the issue is re-signing him when Stan would be going into his last year. Would Bowers take a one year extension? Wouldn't the writing be on the wall for everybody? And the players would know it. It's just an untenable situation - even bringing back SVG in his last year, it should have always been fire or extend.

Stan won't give up Bowers because Jeff's replacement would be the guy who will eventually replace Stan as DBO. SVG is basically saying "As is or fire me", but as is would have Bowers contract expiring. So who would hire his replacement? Woul SVG as DBO or would Gores try and force somebody on him for that role.

I can honestly say as a 34 year fan of the Pistons this is the worst state I’ve ever seen the team in. This truly sucks from top to bottom.
