Irrelevant because Casey will never put him in the rotation.

Why not? I'm asking honestly as I don't know if Casey treats young guys the same way SVG did. Does he have a history of leaving them to rot on the bench?

Who launched Van Vleet?

But you kept interpreting me saying "I'm not advocating for signing Melo" wrong in multiple posts and instead of believing me, all of this happened, but I'll work on being more clear since I don't want this to happen again because that was incredibly annoying.

ChipButty wrote:Are Luke, SJ, Bullock, Thomas, GRIII, and Brown the answer? Probably not, but the best approach is to be patient and give them playing time. Let them compete for minutes. With playing time and luck, one of them may take a step forward. If not, we will be in better shape to make additions through the draft, free agency, and with trades when Leuer, Galloway, GRII, and Reggie are all on expiring deals. We can look to shop Bullock and Ish nearer the deadline for picks if the season looks lost or one of the younger players is pushing for a starting role.

All of this would be great if the current goals of the owner and franchise aligned with "patience". If we wanna be mediocre, play young guys, wait for deals to expire and collect lottery picks (which in a vacuum I have absolutely no problem with), then we should have never traded for Blake Griffin because we could have done all of that without him. I feel a desperation trade is going to blow this entire approach up. I can't believe we traded for Blake Griffin just to squander his talent like this.

Masai first, Casey second after Fred spent a year riding the bench or doing dues in the G-League. The Raps had a deeper team than we did, granted. But right now Casey plays Jose Calderon over Thomas so I don't see your point.

So far he has played scrubs, geriatrics, and non-shooters over Thomas. It is ridiculous.

He's got a good reputation with youngsters but his rotations have been bad and Thomas has gotten no chance. You would think that a guy with shooting and D would get a look, but no, not really.

Would like to see him give Thomas a legit chance

I'd like to see Thomas get a chance eventually too, but all the camp talk had brown making a better impression. The unfortunate part is that all of our young players are on the wings. Pretty much every coach is going to want some vets in the mix at every position, so there is about 0% chance of developing 4-5 wing guys at the same time. If we had a young center or pg, they would have a much better chance of seeing some court time due to fouls, injuries etc.

I feel Thomas is shockingly bad and no one in the organization wants to say that, we don't hear much of anything about him. If it were a matter of chance, I would think Thomas would have gotten the call over Bruce Brown, but he didn't.

Thomas was still injured and did not play in camp. Brown cannot shoot, so he cannot play. Especially for this roster.

Regarding Thomas (from the Pistons mailbag regarding him and his playing time):
"Langlois: He’s getting a ton – in Grand Rapids. And he’s been playing very well with the G League’s Drive, averaging about 22 points a game and making more than half of his 3-point attempts. He’s got a lot of players ahead of him right now – Reggie Bullock, Langston Galloway, Luke Kennard (when he’s healthy), Stanley Johnson, Glenn Robinson III, Jose Calderon – who can play the wing positions. Fellow rookie Bruce Brown got a head start, as well, when Thomas suffered from a few nagging summer injuries. Thomas might have to wait until next season – barring a run of injuries or roster moves to clear playing time – but the Pistons love what they’ve seen from him and heard about his work with the Drive."

Galloway's November might make his a neutral trade asset in the shooting starved league. One more year at $7M isn't negative value anymore contract wise, and he's having a very good November, after a horrid September. Which Galloway is real?

When Kennard comes back somebody will lose minutes and shooters need to shoot themselves into a rhythm. Kennard, Bullock, Galloway - somebody will have to be pretty much benched so the other two can get consistent minutes needed.

Calderon can play on the wing? Haha. That's a good joke. He can't play anywhere, on either end.

Ehhh, I would not so quickly give up on him if I were Boston.

But OK, you can take Reggie Jackson, Jon Leuer, and Langston Galloway in return. Deal?
