IMO pistons are not far from being a good team. We suffer from a lack of consistent shooting. Luke may help tremendously in that area. What we are desperately missing is a pg who can shoot, make plays for others and defend. Beal would be my choice. However he might cost too much. My next choice would be Dinwiddie. Excellent size, can defend. Not sure what it would cost to acquire him. He is coming off the bench behind Deangelo Russell. Averaging 27 min 15 pts 48% fg and 37% on threes. . Thoughts?

Re: Spencer Dinwiddie
How much will he cost to re-sign? How much would he cost in the off-season? More than the MLE?

Did you just call Beal a pg? Also I'm almost certain the minute Dinwiddie would come back to the Pistons he'd forget how to shoot again.

Beal is as much of a pg as Reggie is. Beal is as much of a pg as was Chauncey when he when he became pistons backcourt leader. When John wall was injured it was Beal who ran the show. Beal excels with the ball in his hands

Fans bitch about wanting picks but anytime we played Dinwiddie fans also bitched. Piston fans are a strange fan base to say the least.
They do the same to Brown now if he gets any development time on the court for just one example.

Exactlywhy i never would have traded him. Perfect guard off the bench.

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Re: Spencer Dinwiddie
He's a UFA so that scares me. I'd be all for signing him for the full MLE in the off-season though. But I wouldn't trade a FRP for him now. Looking around the league, that might be enough to get him back as we'd offer him a legit chance to start here within length of his next deal. Brooklyn has so much FA money to spend, and has his FBR's though, it could be tough to get him away.

I think Brooklyn keeps him for the MLE, but that's what I'd do as well, try to get him for MLE money to replace Ish.

He was a borderline lottery pick before he got hurt and he developed once he actually seen consistent playing time. He definitely didn’t show much but it takes patience with young players. They tend to try impress to hard in limited mins to try and stay on the floor.
