The hard thing is he's paid like a franchise player but many nights he doesn't have a franchise player impact on winning/losing. There are nights when he's engaged and he has a huge impact and there are nights when he's seemingly just going through the motions, not battling for position, not making smart decisions, etc.... It gets old seeing your franchise player pout and put that head down constantly as well and it gets old seeing him laugh it up on the bench when his team is getting blown out. Blake is much more the type of guy you can get around and be a fan of you can tell that losing bothers him and he plays hard nightly. Most frustrating thing with Dre is that he has all the physical tools to be great but its his inconsistent motor and lack of IQ that have limited him. Wonder what a player like Lebron or Butler would have done playing alongside him. Blake might be too nice to get the most of Dre.
And with all that said, what's hurting the team more, paying Dre what you're paying him or paying Leuer what you're paying him? Paying Dre his salary or the ghost of Josh Smith? With Dre you get a flawed but extremely productive player. If Dre played to his highest potential every play every night, how much better would the team be? See New Orleans for your answer. Even Anthony Davis can't drag a terrible roster to greatness and he at least has a really good backcourt mate.

So again, maybe more attention needs to be focused on the ones consistently giving you absolutely zero as opposed to someone that's very productive but is just not meeting people's unrealistic expectations.

Statistically I'm 100% fine with Dre's points and rebounds and blocks, its his FG%, FT%, and defense that need to improve and his wasted offensive possessions and TO's that need to be reduced and i'd be really happy with him. That's the hard thing with Dre he's 80% of exactly what we need but its become clear that last 20% is probably never going to happen. He really needs to start doing the little things that winning players do and stop worrying about scoring a few extra points on post ups, trying to hit threes, and going at someone because they took it to you on the other end. Perhaps our best chance of getting over the hump and winning a playoff series is by keeping Dre but I really can't blame anyone for being tired of the guy after all these years on inconsistency and losing either. At some point you just need a change... its crazy to keep running out the same thing over and over and expect different results. Its part of the reason why I wouldn't be sad to see us only keep Reggie B this summer and let Ish, Stanley, Zaza, Calderon, and GR3 go in favor of maybe two rotation players splitting the MLE because at some point you need some fresh faces and new ears in that locker room.
Dre's inconsistency doesn't come close to being the reason we haven't won a playoff series so you'd have to be an idiot to equate the two. Do people honestly believe that by some stroke of genius if we were able to put a bonafide scorer like CJ McCollum next to Dre and Blake we'd see even half or even a 3rd of the wasted Dre possessions?

People's problems is that they try to equate every single Dre post up to a bad possession, and that's just not true. If Dre gets deep position and gets off a good shot and it rims out, oh fugging well. We don't have enough talent at scoring the ball to just say Dre shouldn't ever get the ball in the post. That's ridiculous and it's part of people's flawed thinking.
