If I remember correctly, most of the "excitement" was Avery Bradley being viewed as a step up from KCP and a big step up from any other option at the 2 while hope Stanley could step into Mook's role without much of a drop off.

Both those things worked so well....

I was just relieved at the time that we weren’t giving KCP a huge contract and didn’t see Mook aa integral.

There is no UFA I want with all our capspace in 2020 off-season anyways and the RFA's would all be matched. Cap space for big game free agent hunting isn't all that valuable to Detroit as it is NYC, LA, Miami etc. If we can get a solid wing with the MLE this year I'm all for spending that money this off-season even if that eats into our cap space in 2020 off-season when we could overwise have 30M+. Do we want to bid on UFA's Draymond Green or Kyle Lowry or wait and hope Philly lets Ben Simmons go to our offer sheet?

Spending the MLE doesn't preclude us from trading Jackson, Leuer, Galloway for longer signed players as long as Gores is willing to pay the tax for the next 2-3 seasons after which we surely get under the tax threshold again when Dre walks or Griffin expires and we don't re-up him.

players normally don't go back to the team that traded them. you can probably count on one hand how many times that's happened with a non legend and that's just me giving the benefit of the doubt that it probably has happened atleast once.

trading a player in the middle of the season is draining for him and his family.. why would he go back to the team who traded him in the first place?

If we offer the most money/years Bullock would come back I think. However I don't think we'd get the benefit of a tie scenario. Besides Stefanski basically decided he's not worth keeping at what they think his price point was - not to mention he would have probably asked more to stay here since we had his FBR's. He could hold pretty decent value to the Lakers now as his cap hold is $4.2M - they can make big signings and then use his FBR's to re-sign him if they like him there.

I thought he was a ballhog. He eventually grew on me a little, but I don't recall being super upset when we lost him.

Yeah, he was a guy with a chip on his shoulder who could go off for a big game every now and then. But he was just as likely to shoot you out of one or kill the pace with some ISO ball. Overall, I was a fan but don't think he'd be worth the money he'll probably command for his next contract. Have to think he's eager to get his first big pay day after taking a deal on the last one.

He's been really good for Boston this year but he also could be the cause of some of their chemistry issues. He does have a high usage rate but he's shooting 41% from three so its somewhat justified from him to take a lot of shots when you're shooting it like that. At 29 years of age he's right in his prime years this year and the next year or two so a four year deal would be safe. His age fits the same window as Blake.

One big unknown is whether or not he wants to play alongside his brother again. A team with capspace that can't land a bigger free agent could perhaps offer both of them starting jobs and both of them contracts less than full MLE and that might be more appealing to them. It's impossible to say this time around, although it seemed last time that they took less money to stay together.
