Good to see Casey make Ellington earn those minutes and keep him on a tight leash like he does with Kennar.... oh wait.

37 minutes v 16 tonight despite the fact that Wayne has been worse across the board so far.

Casey is probably just trying to get Ellington going. He hasn't been good so he is playing around with his role to find the right fit.

Yeah, it probably is. Though maybe to get him to sign here they guaranteed him a certain role, and we're now seeing it after he has a couple practices under his belt.

I just feel like we've been seeing this story too often around here. The young guy has to "Earn those minutes", but we "Gotta get the vet going", so let's spoon-feed him, even though he's been unequivocally worse...

I think he'll end up being a solid pickup, but sometimes you can save the coach from himself. Kennard is obviously the best wing on the team with Bullock gone (sad, but true). Casey will still find ways to keep him hanging on the edge of the rotation.

Really! Someone hasn't watched Kennard's game very closely. He brings a lot to the floor.

He's not dissing on Luke. He's dissing Casey for not playing Luke more. (basically).

Kennard has averaged almost 28mpg in last 5 games. He has shot .545% from floor and .556% from 3 during that time all while only having (2) turnovers in last 5 games. Technically, he is MUCH farther ahead than JJ Reddick was at the same stage of their careers.

Technically, JJ Reddick sucked his first 3 years in the league and everyone thought he was going to be a bust. He didn't crack 15 ppg until his 8th season. Hopefully it clicks for Luke much faster because Blake certainly can't wait another 6 years.

I love Kennard as much as anyone but Ellington deserves some love too. If you cut out Ellington's horrible 0-7 from 3 debut game, he has been shooting 35% from 3. Not great but definitely not bad either. He is also just learning our system and starting to look more and more comfortable. He is doing a solid job filling in Bullock. I would like to see him and Ish resigned in the offseason. That would make for a very nice veteran backup backcourt.

I want no part of Ellington being re-signed - we don't have and Bird Rights to him meaning his money would come out of our MLE. I want a wing with size with our MLE, assuming we bring Ish back using his FBR's. We need somebody to be able to guard the Leonards, Giannis', Tatum's of the league.

Kennard, Galloway, Brown, Thomas is enough depth at the 2-guard.

I didn't realize we would have to dip into the MLE to resign him. Hmm that definitely makes it tough. I wish there was a way to keep him around. I disagree though that Galloway, Brown, and Thomas are enough depth. We know Galloway's last 2 games are fools gold. Brown is a solid defender but is a liability on offense and Thomas (who I like) is just simply not proven at all yet.
