If the overall total is $15 million or close to it then the first year can't be as low as $7 million. A MLE contract can only have up to 5% raises in salary from one year to the next. I used the $7.3 million figure above because the 5% raises the next season would equal $7,665,000, which combined is just shy of $15 million overall. The first year should be somewhere close in that range.

And like I said above, $1.6 million would still put the team in the tax. It's not happening for a minimum signing.

Thanks for clarifying. Oh well, pretty happy getting Kieff and Rose.

Svi Mykhailiuk's contract became guaranteed when he wasn't waived before today.

Blake Griffin $34,449,964
Andre Drummond $27,093,019
Reggie Jackson $18,086,956
Tony Snell $11,392,857
Derrick Rose
Langston Galloway $7,333,333
Luke Kennard $3,827,160
Markieff Morris $3,623,000
Thon Maker $3,569,643
Sekou Doumbouya $3,285,120
Tim Frazier $1,620,564
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk $1,416,852
Khryi Thomas $1,416,852
Bruce Brown Jr. $1,416,852

Josh Smith $5,331,729 (dead money)

Jordan Bone $79,568 (does not count against cap)
Louis King $79,568 (does not count against cap)

Deividas Sirvydis (unsigned)

Overall Total: $123,863,901
Cap Space: -$14,723,901
Luxury Tax Room: $8,763,099
Aprom Room: $15,064,099

Just waiting on the details of Rose's contract to emerge. And for what it's worth I suppose the team would have enough to sign a rookie or a player that's in their second season (just barely scraping by under the tax for the latter) to a minimum deal even if Rose's contract starts at $7,300,000. Not sure I see the point though. That guy likely never plays. Drummond, Maker, and Morris will be getting the minutes at center. Even Griffin in certain situations. There's no real room elsewhere on the roster.

Unless a trade comes along they're sticking with 14... with an outside chance of just signing Sirvydis to a minimum deal in case they can't find anywhere else to stash him.

We have official numbers for Rose and Morris!

Blake Griffin $34,449,964
Andre Drummond $27,093,019
Reggie Jackson $18,086,956
Tony Snell $11,392,857
Derrick Rose $7,317,074
Langston Galloway $7,333,333
Luke Kennard $3,827,160
Thon Maker $3,569,643
Sekou Doumbouya $3,285,120
Markieff Morris $3,200,000
Tim Frazier $1,620,564
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk $1,416,852
Khryi Thomas $1,416,852
Bruce Brown Jr. $1,416,852

Josh Smith $5,331,729 (dead money)

Jordan Bone $79,568 (does not count against cap)
Louis King $79,568 (does not count against cap)

Deividas Sirvydis (unsigned)

Overall Total: $130,757,975
Cap Space: -$21,617,975
Luxury Tax Room: $1,869,025
Aprom Room: $8,170,025

Rose's deal came in right in the expected range. However, Markieff didn't end up getting the full BAE like it was reported. That little extra taken off might have been what got him the player option in the second year. With those numbers the Pistons do have enough to sign a veteran to a minimum deal.

It was always fishy that we left ourselves almost enough to sign one more guy, I always figured the numbers must be a little off.

Say what you will about this new group. They're surprisingly decent at managing the cap. I reserve the right to take this back in the event that we actually end up trading for Westbrook.
