Halloween is almost upon us... Someone had to resurrect a deceased thread or two, I guess.

So yeah, I would rather have SGA / Shamet / JaMychel Green / Philly's 2020 1st / Miami's 2021 1st and ~$30 mil in cap room than Blake.....

No guarantee we would've gotten half of that haul, but even if just SGA and/or Shamet was included with a pick, I would've done it in a heartbeat.

That Miami pick can be so good too.

This is what Kawhi (and PG) chose to face when choosing to come to the Clippers... getting BOOed by "L.A."

Kawhi didn't come to L.A. for the glamour.

He came to LA because its his hometown. Everyone knows that. Was it worth a clap-back post 2.5 months later?

But since you did.... Kawhi really screwed your team by demanding the Paul George trade. And Jerry West got Jerry West'd in the process.

The team would be better with SGA & Gallo than it will be with PG. And how many draft picks were thrown in on top of it?

Just imagine having the team you have now + your 2nd year star point guard-in-the-making still in the fold + all of those draft picks still in tact going forward. But no, Kawhi had to screw it up and get diva selfish. Not blaming your team for conceding to the demand, because Kawhi is that good. But you'd better get a ring or two out of it, because the team got screwed going forward.

This was a Herschel Walker-Cowboys level trade.

Tell that to "Pharaoh" (who I'm replying to)... the Clippers don't just get any free agents cuz of the "market" we're in (that's my point). Anyway...

Herschel Walker/Dallas Cowboys level trade !?!?
And the OKC Thunder are the Cowboys???

Expect a reply to this post 2.5 years from now about that comment.

What do you expect those Picks will turn out to be?
What is OKC going to get for the 30th, the 25th, the 27th Picks, 18th, or whatever they are?

You're on top now, but things change quickly in the league. And it's not like all 5 picks are in next year's draft. In fact, none of them are. These picks run through 2026. And the 2021 pick is Miami's, not yours. So it may well be high. Let's review the picks....

1. 2021 unprotected 1st (from Miami)
2. 2022 unprotected 1st
3. 2023 protected 1st (from Miami)
4. 2024 unprotected 1st
5. 2026 unprotected 1st

And again, I don't blame you for doing the trade because you had to do it in order to secure Kawhi. I would have done it, too. But Kawhi totally screwed you in the process. George makes the team no better than what the team would have been without him. Slightly worse, if anything. The fact that Kawhi either couldn't see that or didn't care about it made me lose a bit of respect for him. It killed the future not only in terms of picks, but in losing SGA, as well. I followed the Clippers closely last season (loved the team), and was very keen to what they had in SGA. He was your star point guard for years to come.

The Thunder, who were going nowhere for the next couple years regardless, made out like bandits. It was Christmas in July.

Well, I guess I'm mixing the scenarios. The value of the picks changes based on the scenario. Also, I don't actually believe that the Clippers will drop-off completely after 2 years, that's just an extreme-case-scenario.

Kawhi left millions on the table in San Antonio... millions more in Toronto... so that he could "come home." I don't see him leaving after two years. And if the Clippers have Kawhi, they'll draw Free Agents, they'll be competitive. FWIW, the current Rookies and Sophs like Landry Shamet, Mfiondu Kabengele, Terance Mann will be just coming into their own 3 years from now. The Clippers aren't that hamstrung because they gave up one too many Picks.

OKC is going to try to do what the Clippers did... take a bunch of Picks and parlay them into Stars. That's the NBA.

SGA (or Bridges) was our pick we traded to LAC.

LAC traded Bradley for Green.

Shamet / Phily pick / Miami pick is what LAC got for Tobias.

Clippers made a feint with that trade up for Shai. Otherwise I think we would've drafted Bridges anyways since he's a home state kid.

Point being, I agree with you. I would have your haul than what we've got.

The Clippers could win the championship this year and still have draft capital. The Pistons are nowhere close to a championship and Blake isn’t playing.

I personally don’t consider this a subject that’s debatable in any way.
