Sure it does. A person doesnt live in their house, especially not a world class athlete in their 20s. Just because a generation ago that area had a lot of money and built some big houses (ie some people twice their age or older).

Downtown Denver is hot right now. Northern CA is still CA. The girls in both of those places are even hotter. WAY better looking than one of the top obesity states in the country. I called my friend and it was 70 degrees in Northern CA. It was 28 degrees in NW MI for me with 3-4 inches of snow on the ground.

Detroit is one of the last places a young guy with money would want to live in the USA. That people still argue this stuff is hilarious. Go check out even Charlotte. But New Orleans! Orlando is WAY more fun than Detroit and its warm all year round, full of young girls working at Disney and near the Ocean and not far from Miami.

There is some hardcore denial that Detroit isnt a wasteland compared to almost every other major city in the country.

I don't know how old you are or where you've been but I know where I've been.

No one with real money lives in downtown Charlotte. Just stop.

I grew up in Florida. To say that Orlando is not far from Miami is like saying NYC is not far from Philly.

We'll have to disagree. Any young guy with money, Detroit?

Weather, culture, crime, lifestyle, girls, fun. Detroit is either last or near the bottom.

I havent been to San Antonio, OKC and Memphis. The only place I think a young guy might not like would be the Twin Cities (too cold), Milwaukee and Utah (Mormon).

Everywhere else, go down the list. On weather alone MI is terrible. East Coast NYC, Philly, Boston. All the big cities, Houston, Dallas, LA.

Detroit is bottom 5.

Oh and the Wings were in the mix for the Cup for two decades. The Patriots dont have any issue getting free agents either. Has nothing to do with Boston.

You've already given yourself away; clearly you haven't been anywhere.

the _prc in my name is P.R. China. I fly there and back all year, for 15 years now. Usually through different metros, with a stop-over since doing the 24 travel stuff isnt fun anymore.

You can keep up the tough guy, **** stuff though.

LOL. So you fly back and forth to China through different airports and that means you know something about different cities? Let me clue you in on something, traveler--I've BEEN to the the places I've been.

Regardless, we can whip out our travel dicks all day long and it doesn't change the fact that athletes with money still don't live in the crappy parts of the cities they play in--they live in the BEST parts.

Memphis or OKC...LOL. You wind up in Memphis or OKC because you got a big contract; no one CHOOSES Memphis or OKC because that's where they want to live.

Clearly, Drummond's best defense is inspiring a flame war about geography. :)

Shoot, I didn't even get into the star athletes born and raised somewhere else, came from playing for another team to play for a Detroit team, and stayed in the Detroit area after their careers were done.

The whole "no stars will come to Detroit because the city sucks and no one would want to live there" argument has no basis in logic whatsoever. Anybody who has ever spent time in OKC, Memphis, Green Bay, Tampa, Sacramento or Jacksonville can tell you that. Not to mention the superstars that Detroit teams have brought in over the years. It's not about age, weather, or the worst things about the city the team plays in. It's about two things, and two things period--money, winning or both.

Honestly Detroit is one of the last cities in the country I'd want to live. There are a lot of fun things to do but all in all the combination of crime and weather are a huge turn off. I love Michigan very much, but that has everything to do with the surrounding suburbs and nothing to do with Detroit.

And ultimately the results speak for themselves, who was the last marquee free agent the pistons signed?

Why has this thread been a days long conversation about the desirability of Detroit?

When was the last post about Drummond's defense?
