wait, is this an actual take that people have? it’s not worth it to debate this nonsense seeing as how getting a prospect on a rookie deal and a 1st round pick for Dre would be an absolute steal. this post is laughable.

There’s still a sliver amount of Drummond fans here and other forums that’ll still defend him and are a bit salty about it now that it’s looking like the end of the Dre era. It’s just residual dissonance which I’m sure will be forgotten in a few months.

I am not a Drummond or any player's fan. I am a Pistons fan. Period.

A late teen, early 20 pick in a weak draft is poop. And Cam Reddish is a complete joke. That's pretty much letting Drummond go for nothing.

Reports say he is looking for a 20-25 mil per year contract. I would rather offer Drummond a 4 years 100 million contract and get rid of the rest of the crap we have (Galloway/Reggie Jackson/Snell/Maker/Frazier) and keep Drummond and our role player young players (Kennard/Wood/Svi/Brown/Sekou), than take that laughable package for him. And I'd deal Blake once he has value again in 1-2 years. Drummond is young enough to be part of a rebuild

People want us to be the next Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings :noway:

We are in that tier already just without the young prospects like Fox, Bagley, Booker, Ayton, Bridges to build with.

So Dre has been on our team 8 years and we have two 1st round playoff exits to show for it. This past year he's said that he's going to opt out of his contract and seek max money somewhere.

So to recap:
1. We've gotten very little in the way of actual results (progress towards a championship) with him on the team over a large sample size.
2. We've already paid big dollars to keep him once and he will be demanding bigger dollars to stay for longer.
3. It's extremely likely that if he's presented with a big contract elsewhere that he walks. For nothing.

And you're saying it's laughable that people are happy in getting something in return for him before he leaves?

P.S. I'm not on the Cam Reddish bandwagon. If we get picks back (even not so great 1sts that are protected) and salaries that go off the books after this year then I'm still happy.

Because the alternative is he resigns here. What are you expecting to be different that you haven't already seen for the last 8 years?
I'm not debating it, but can you or someone post where's he's actually said he's seeking a max contract? Any link to this?

Edit: here is where he says he will becone a free agent:

It's definitely debatable what he means by this (see quotes) but all indications they have sent up to this point are towards opting out. Now maybe they wake up and realize he won't get 28 mill per year in a long term deal and he stays put? But you can't bank on people being reasonable when they have people in their ear telling them about max deals. (e.g KCP).

Our best course of action as a franchise is (if we really want to keep him) get him to sign the extension now. If not then I think you have to treat him as someone leaving and trade him before the deadline to get something in return.
