Trade Derrick Rose for draft pick number __?__

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Fri Aug 21, 2020 3:49 am

We don't need to TRADE Kennard and our draft pick. We need to keep young players, keep cap flexibility. I love Derrick Rose but maybe he might be happier playing for a contender and the Pistons might be happier trading him with great value. Win win. So, can we get a first rounder for him? I think so, but the question is how high. What do you think of the idea and what pick could we likely get?

Question is: what contenders have a TPE to fit him in?

Or are we taking back a salary AND the late first?

Maybe Detroit can nab 18,31,Brunson plus one of Powell or Wright for Rose in a salary dump plus filler for Rose to maximize asset addition?

I don't think we can draft Kennard again. :)

That being said, I don't think it's worth trading Kennard for a pick simply to get rid of him; not in this draft anyway. Even if he proves to only be a bench player due to needing limited minutes in order to keep his knees from going south he's still a capable bench player and thus still worthy of being part of the big picture at this point in time.

Rose? Definitely. What's he worth in this draft for someone who needs a proven scorer right now, outside of the salary/filler considerations to make it work? A pick in the 6-10 range I would think.

Send Derrick to Dallas for delon wright and 18
Derrick to Philliy for zhaire smith, Mike scott and 21
Derrick to Boston for some filler players and 26
Derrick to the Knicks for frank or Dennis and 27
Derrick to the Lakers for quinn cook, caruso and 28

I feel like these are possibilities. I like Philadelphia first followed by Dallas. I’m sure there are others, but I’m just guessing. Maybe we could get back more or less. I just think these all make sense.

Sixers trade, I would swap Scott to another team.

Boston, I think, you could just offer a non existent 2nd for salary dumps and one of their late 1st round picks. Possibly both.

LOL, I reread that this morning  Obviously I meant TRADE.

Totally agree that we shouldn't trade Kennard. Maybe he was a letdown, especially compared to Donovan Mitchell, but Kennard is certainly a rotation player on a good team. And he is young. These are the players we need to keep.

If we could get a 6-10 for Rose, we certainly should do that. I would even trade him in the 10-15 range. Time to do a rebuild right this time.

Personally I think expecting any pick before the 20s for a 31 year old Rose on a 1 year deal is just insane. I cant see anyone doing that.

In theory I agree that it makes sense to get value for Rose & give him an opportunity to win. Realistically, I don't know that the return from this draft really makes it meaningful for us. Might be better to sit on him and look to deal him closer to the deadline.

We gotta look at the bad bubble teams that were trying to play in the playoffs that’ll likely try to make the step into getting someone like Rose. Teams like Phoenix, Grizzlies, Sac, etc. I could see Portland trying to get Rose to give Dame some rest and etc

There's no way in hell in any universe that an aging, oft injured Rose gets you a top 10 pick even in a crap draft. I'd be mildly shocked if he returned a 1st although maybe a contender in the very back of the 1st like the Lakers might take a shot.

We've been dangling Rose for a 1st for quite a while now and haven't found any takers. He's really a "win now" piece, but his injury history is a huge red flag for "win now" teams. Certainly no rebuilding teams are going to be offering good draft picks for him.

Yeah, we're over-valuing Rose at this point.
