We picked up a 49 year old? Joe Johnson's gonna be pissed.
I'll give it a B.

meh. Nothing much lost. Probably nothing much gained. I think it was more of a numbers game than anything. Even before the draft, I'd have him as behind luke and svi in terms of 2 guards we would try to develop. I don't think his vision has us playing any of those guys at the 3.

Re: Grade the Bowen trade!
I assume this is Bruce Brown?
Nets with injuries were hoping that Musa could help. He can't shoot, turns the ball over, cant play defense and didnt pass well.
Best case scenario Musa turns into Svi, maybe? Poor defense, not quick or strong enough to guard SF, but can shoot? But then we have to pick up his salary for 4 million.
Its all negative.

Re: Grade the Bowen trade!
I mean if we are looking at this in the grand scheme of things, of course its a "meh." Trading or keeping Bruce Brown wasn't ever going to move the needle one way or the other.
However, Looking at it on its own, its a bad trade. Bruce Brown is better and cheaper than Musa, and the pick coming back likely turns into nothing more than a name on a wikipedia page.
Its more likely than not, they ended up trading Bruce Brown for nothing when its all said and done.

Is Brian Bowen the same player as Bruce Brown?

I like Brown and thought he could play a role during the rebuild, but I didn’t expect anything from him beyond that. I don’t think the Pistons got anything of value for him, but perhaps that says more about Brown’s value around the league. Hard working guy, so I hope he does well in NY.

Re: Grade the Bowen trade!
I don't really care abour Brown the player, I care about value for value and the Pistons taking the trade in isolation, lost the trade.
Expected.

I said good.
Did it get us an asset? Yes
Did it increase our chances of getting more ping pong balls next year? Yes
Minor trade, but a good one.

Re: Grade the Brown trade!
This trade is similar to the Drummond trade. I’m assuming that they didn’t want to pay him. The return is nothing of any value or future value. I’m guessing this deal is probably the beginning of a roster cleaning.

Re: Grade the Brown trade!
given how low-impact this trade will likely be i'm not sure how you grade it with an A or F, etc.
so i'll just say: it was a trade.

My first reaction is grade D. I thought Brown was more valuable than a Euro project and a late second.

Kinda funny how much love there is for brown right now. I get that he plays hard and all, but he's a very low ceiling player.
Just say tomorrow night we get a 2nd rounder and then use it on a 24 yr old defender who can't shoot. The board would lose it's collective mind.

I think its a pretty safe bet, that if Detroit drafted any 24 year old the collective receptions wouldn't be warm. How many 24 year olds are even in the draft anyways? I would think very few, if any.
As for the 2nd part, no matter how much people want to rag on Brown he's obviously proven he can play/stay in the NBA despite his limitations. So I'm not personally going to criticize anybody who is miffed Detroit gave up a guy with the prototypical "Pistons DNA", then complains if Detroit drafts a random 2nd rounder with a similar scouting report to what Brown's was coming into the league. There are zero guarantees said 2nd rounder, ever plays meaningful minutes in the NBA.

Re: Grade the Brown trade!
It was a bad trade on first glance since it’ll help shore up the Nets rotation for a bit with a serviceable all around wing
We’ll only be able to judge fully based on how the pick translates which is more than likely to be a dud
