P+R+A hes a great fantasy basketball player. He literally plays looking for stats. Hes a player who relies on being athletic and is losing that as he hits his mid 30s. He just put up the 2nd lowest VORP of his career hes declining for sure. He can't shoot whatsoever. He also makes tons of money. One of the worst contracts in the league 5 years 205million.
After seeing how many wanted Blake when he was on the market I'm not surprised to see some pistons fans wanting Westbrook as well. Its like some fans want to be a 8 seed chaser forever.
Watching him in the playoffs this season was BRUTAL. I cant imagine anyone who wants him actually seen him in the playoffs this year. I'd rather sign FVF then get Westbrook and I dont want VanFleet either.
I don't want Westbrook at this point, because I expect his athleticism will fall off a cliff. But, calling the guy awful right now... not buying it. He's someone whose motor still goes to 11 who needs to be coached out of hero ball iso-ball antics. It's probably too late for that. He's always had "let great players play" kind of coaches, and I bet he'd do better under a hard-ass no-BS sort (NOT Casey).
People have been saying this about Westbrook his whole career -- that he needs to develop and refine his game to help him overcome his inevitable athletic decline. If he hasn't started to make that shift by now, why should we believe he ever will? His motor is not an asset when it's spurring him to chuck up low percentage jump shots and stifle the offense so he can try and put the game on his shoulders. With this contract and that declining skill set, he's toxic.
