Re: Woods apparently S&T now with Houston
I see a rotation of Hayes and Wright working well, with less time for Hayes in the first half of the season before Rose is gone. Rose can be gone at any time and Hayes shouldn't be expected to be a 30+ minute player this season. Plenty room to develop in his first season with a solid rotation partner.

Say whatever you want about Weaver.
If Weaver let go of an obviously talented unicorn big/all-star who just turned the corner with his work ethic... for a role player and some trusty vets - his next step better be to deliver a championship.
Weaver put himself on the hot seat, because if Wood goes on to do better than the Pistons he’s going to look stupid regardless. It’s dumb to bet against talent that works hard. Talent plus hard work always rises to the top. I’m not sure how he’s going to live this down without a championship.

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Barring a season ending injury guarantee Wood is going to make Weaver look stupid.

Both Wright and Hayes have the size to play minutes at the 2.thesack12 wrote:Pharaoh wrote:Casey is going to ride Wright over Killian?thesack12 wrote:
Yeah we are on much different thought processes here. The way I see it, flipping Ariza for Wright is much worse because casey is gonna ride Wright much to the Detriment of Killian Hayes. And Wright has 2 year remaining on his contract, while Ariza is on an expiring contract.
Why do you believe that?
Other than his Memphis stint (26 games) Delon Wright has never averaged over 23 minutes per game in his 5 seasons.

Because I believe the Casey connection played a large role in bringing in Wright. If Wright plays 20 minutes, and Rose gets his 20+, where does that leave Killian?
96 minutes available between Rose, Hayes, Wright, Svi, Ellington etc
The last 2 years Mr Redemption (Rose) has averaged less than 28 minutes per game in his 51 & 50 games played, only starting 13 & 15 of them.
It's not farfetched to imagine:
Rose 28
Wright 24
Hayes 24
Svi 20

My reply in the Ellington thread is a better overall response to this.

Svi and Ellington will play more.
Hayes will play much less

Svi averaged 18 minutes per last season.
He could bump that up closer to 28 but that's going to depend on the new additions.

What happened to playing Jackson at the 2?
I have no problem taking a flyer on Wright, but by all reports Wright was a bad fit playing off the ball last year.
It also doesn't bode well that Trey Burke ended up starting at PG and is the player Dallas preferred to move forward with.
Regarding the trade with Houston, I think we got played, but it's all going to come down to Isiah Stewart. There is a LOT to like on tape. Great energy and size. Excited to see him play.

I see from the posts after this the deal has mixed opinions. My two favorite teams are the Bucks and Suns so I'm no stranger to front office incompetence lolthesack12 wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:Apologies if this was discussed in one of you're previous threads. But why did Detroit give up a pick in this deal? I thought Detroit was getting that Stewart pick to take Ariza's contract and then Wood being a S&T would be helping Houston so why is Detroit giving compensation.
Am I missing something from a cap perspective?

Because Troy Weaver is getting schooled by every other GM he makes transactions with. He then proceeded to make it worse by re-routing Ariza in a 3 way to get Delon Wright who unlike Ariza isn't on an expiring contract. Oh and Weaver sent out a draft pick in that move as well, just for extra effect.
Anyway I think the pistons will be an interesting team to watch this year. I've always liked wright and grant and was high on Hayes as a prospect. Josh Jackson is a **** human and somehow an even worse basketball player, **** that guy.

Hopefully Jackson has grown up a lot and realises he might be on his last chance.WeekapaugGroove wrote:I see from the posts after this the deal has mixed opinions.
