Both he's a versatile forward these days teams put SFs at PF. Actually let the guy get some touches on offense should be a priority.

He's nimble enough to hang around with most SF's since most SF's not named Bron/Kawhi/PG are just 3 n D guys and he for sure can chase those around unless the team is playing super small like the Rockets

But I think he's naturally a active PF if he gains a bit of size and mass

He's 19, he'll probably be able to add some bulk.

Long term I'll maintain he's probably a 4- that is of course assuming he's anything long term.

He'll always have defensive versatility, and the distinctions between the positions just don't mean what they used to anyway.

I don’t think Seku will be quick enough to guard threes as he builds more muscle. I also don’t think that he is a good enough ball handler either.

Not trying to **** on anybody's thread, but not a fan of these types of questions. We've kinda evolved away from traditional positions. It really comes down to lineups, matchups and the style of ball we decide to play. Let's just let the kid play, try to put him in situations where he can be successful and not worry about what his label is.

It feels to me very relevant as to where Casey puts him both offensively and defensively. It's really hard to say how he is going to fit in defensively and offensively because he haven't run much for him. Right now he seems to just spot up 3, basket cuts, and transition but eventually this season we will need to run some plays for him and see what he can do. I personally think he's going to be better going at slower 4s than quicker shorter 3s but I know a lot of teams do have versatile defenders that can guard either forward but there are certainly some teams where you are going to have guys like Zion at PF and Ingrahm at SF and who have to think which type of player is Sekou going to be able to better defend. Both are tough matchups. Then you have teams like the Lakers with Davis and Lebron... Teams like the Heat with Duncan Robinson at SF who defensively can guard the weaker wing where Butler has the ability to guard a lot of good SFs, but then at PF you have Bam.

I think we may also face a similar issue with Jerami Grant in the long run too, as far as where he plays best given the matchups we're most likely to see.... does he play better next to a smaller forward like Jackson or does he play better next to a more traditional power forward like Blake.

Right now he still isnt very good defensively, but he does try hard and that will go a long way.

He isnt very good at moving his feet and so he gets beat pretty regularly away from the basket. He fouls a lot near the basket. I have seen him get better at playing with his body near the basket and keeping his arms up, thats a good sign.

He ended up guarding Robin Lopez a few plays and he held his own strength wise. Lopez still shot over him and it went in, but that wasnt any different than against Okafor or Plumlee. Sekou at least can shoot and does try to rebound.

Our centers are so bad, that playing Grant, Sekou, Blake, etc would be WAY better because we cant get worse defensively, thats impossible. Rebounding we cant get worse, I havent seen Plumlee or Okafor get a contested rebound yet. But the upside of defense on the perimeter (Bryant and Lopez shooting uncontested threes) and the upside on shooting (Plumlee cant shoot and Okafor cant make anything near the basket, he gets blocked or stripped).

I think Sekou could be our small ball center.

I suspect he ends up a 4, but it's too early to tell. He can obviously play both right now, but it looks like he's still filling out and getting stronger. He's got a lot of work to do on his handles to be a full time 3, but who knows. I think he's got the athleticism to stick with 3's on the perimeter and is rapidly developing the strength to bang with 4s.

I see Sekou settling in to the 4 position once Griffin is gone or unavailable, rotating with Grant. It will be good to see those young wings develop at the 2 and 3 with Sekou at the 4 but it will be a while that becomes the bulk of the minutes.
