I think Stewart could get some PF minutes right now - help expand his game a bit. But then I think we'd have to trade Sekou to get Bamba so there would be primary back-up minutes behind Grant at the four.

Just wait til the offseason, we might be in a position to draft a 7footer like Mobley anyways

DSJr does't have any NBA skills, while Bamba is a great defender/rim protector who can shoot 3's, so yeah, one has potential to be a star while the other will be out of the league soon.

DJSr seems like a likeable kid so I have nothing against him, but he doesn't seem like a NBA player.

Ok but honestly I don’t think I’m that far off from your thinking. I think they traded rose to New York to do him a solid. We probably asked for Knox or Smith back with the pick. Basically Smith is a remainder of season project. He’s 23 and if he shows anything great, if not oh well. I think it would have to be something spectacular for him to get a new contract.

Once wright and Hayes get healthy, assuming they stay, he’d be getting minimal playing time

I meant in the sense that Smith is basically a why not. I admittedly see that mo is a better prospect/project than Smith.

DSJr never developed any NBA skills, while Mo has them. That's why DSJr is a no. He can't shoot, can't finish, can't defend, has poor vision.

I dunno if it’s that they’re a farm team. I think it’s more that they just don’t draft many “keepers”. Neither do we.
They have traded Harris, Oladipo, Sabonis, Saric, just to name a few. I fully expect Gordon, Mo, and Isaac's to be gone within the next few years as well.(let's not forget Wallace as well but that one at least got them Hill)

They get players, get them ready for the big leagues, and then send them out. Its what they do.

They are the closest thing to a farm team a legitimate NBA is right now. Bad trades, bad drafts, just a bad organization all around.

I am willing to bet you can get either Gordon, or Bamba off that team for relative peanuts.

Wallace wasn’t a draft pick nor was he originally from Orlando.

Sabonis doesn’t really count, he was effectively traded as a draft choice, he was never farmed. Saric never played for them either.

You seem quite argumentative today. I didn't say anything about their own draft picks, but a guess the vernacular "farm team" lends to that.

Orlando is a crap team that gives up on players currently playing for them, or trade them after they are drafted way to quickly, to the benefit of the other 29 NBA teams.

Is that better?

What I'm trying to say is that Orlando makes shortsighted trades seemingly more often then other teams.

Mo Bamba took a very long time to recover from COVID-19. He may be a long hauler. Could this be holding him back on the court?

I wouldn’t mind kicking the tires on Jaxson Hayes. Who has the higher ceiling? Hayes or Bamba?

Sabonis, Oladipo, and Harris were all traded by a woefully incompetent general manager who was fired nearly four years ago. The Magic haven't made any such trades since.

Bamba. Not many 7 footers with a 7'10 wing and a potential 3 ball

To be fair, the guy who traded Tobias Harris to Orlando in an even worse trade than the one FROM Orlando is now the Orlando GM.

And as for Bamba, I seriously wonder are teams' fans out there that have these same conversations about Sekou. Like at a certain point we give up on our own guys too soon as fans but the guy in the same situation on another team is the must have. I don't get it.

I guess when you said "farm" team I took it to mean you were using it in the way baseball uses it- for their minor league systems where players are drafted and developed before either being traded or called up. And some of the weaker MLB teams who always give up their players when they get too expensive have often been described as glorified "farm teams" for the Yankees, Red Sox etc.

I agree with you that the Magic are a poorly run team. They don't draft particularly well and give on too soon on the guys they do draft who have actual talent. They're not all that different from us in that way, actually. It's just that we rarely even draft guys who generate much value. The Magic are somewhat better at drafting (still not great, mind you) but never seem to leverage it into anything. The result is a situation not altogether dissimilar from our own.

Hammond did a decent job in Milwaukee. He wasn't great, but he certainly wasn't Hennigan. Hennigan was an all-around disaster.

And the trade of Harris to Milwaukee wasn't worse, or even close to as bad. In 2013, Tobias was a raw prospect. In 2016, he was an established, capable scorer under contract for three more seasons on a team-friendly deal and, at only 23, still had further potential upside. He had significant trade value, and Hennigan gave him away for expiring contracts. It remains one of the most lopsided NBA trades in recent memory.

And then Stan Van Dummy parlayed that contract into the albatross known as Blake Griffin lol
