It might be time to move on Grant, but it’s gotta be the right package. Boston is not trading Jaylen Brown for Grant and some OK players... get over that idea, that wouldn’t work with a normal GM, let alone the ultra-stingy Ainge.

I actually like Grant to the Warriors a lot, but I don’t want Wiseman. I want the Minny pick, with some conditions that cover us from getting very little if Minny picks top 3 this year (about a 50% chance, if they finish worst in the league) and then greatly improves next year. We can absorb Oubre in return, he’s expiring, I believe. Ideally, I want another pick around 4th or 5th to build with.

The only made up idea that I heard was

Grant going to boston

For

okc first round pick, boston first round pick, a second round pick
Pritchard, Nesmith, Smart.... I think that was it. Might have been another to even cap.

I'd consider that seriously. Nesmith and two firsts. Pritchard could be a good back up. Smart, I'd see if he fit in well, but could always trade him.

I would keep Grant this year. The MIP is a big deal for the Pistons considering our current situation. We can trade him next season and his value can go up by sustaining the great level he has shown.

The draft is not loaded with PFs and he is the perfect secondary scorer for a good team. If we end up landing Cade they can make a great duo.

Additionally, I would never help the Celtics to improve their roster.

Could Boston absorb Grant into their TPE with the understanding that we also deal them Delon and Ellington for their youngs guys and multiple draft picks? Like every damn one of their draft picks
They would be pretty stacked

Grant has been an amazing signing and a great value. He is young and considered a corner stone of the rebuild at this stage. He has been playing at an all star level. For me to move him, I’m looking for a young asset with legit promise/upside to develop into a corner stone and a lotto pick to start while taking no salary long term back. If a team can’t offer that as a starter, there is no deal to be had in my eyes. Boston doesn’t have it at this stage. Boston only has that TPE. My guess is that Boston’s offered an under performing rookie and some second or a future protected pick.

Anything which would help the Celtics and Ainge in particular turns my stomach.

They simply don’t have any other assets worthy of those types of players.

That’s why I think Grant/Plumlee for Brown might be in play, maybe. They get a new starting 4 and 5 for Brown.
See your on to something here. Plumlee would be a really great fit in Boston, alongside Grant. You add those two to the current Celtics team and they are automatic contenders. Problem here is that Boston has to give up a player they don't want to.

I would do a plumlee/Grant for Brown trade. I have been pretty firm in my not wanting to move Grant but if the Piston land a younger good player, I'm good with it. I woukd also throw in Wright as well, really sweetening the pot for Danny. We would obviously have to take back some crap for contracts but that's the type of trade I would do.

It allows Tatum to be the true alpha, and gives them a big boost at the C position as well as a damn good backup PG. Mason is an excellent passing big man, and also rebound well. He doesn't stray from his lane and gets the job done. The current Celtics need a good big man.

Interesting proposal.

Add in Nesmith to any deal with boston.
No problem. Pistons don't need to make any deal really, so all comers are going to have to make it worth their while.

Celtics Get
Jerami Grant
Wayne Ellington
Pistons Get
Aaron Nesmith
Romeo Langford/Grant Williams
Daniel Theis/Tristan Thompson
2021 FIRST-ROUND PICK, 2023 FIRST-ROUND PICK, 2025 FIRST-ROUND PICK, 2022 SECOND-ROUND PICK, 2024 SECOND-ROUND PICK

I am intrigued by Romeo Langford who is only 21 and plays great D. Game 1 you do this trade all day. Now as always we want a kings ransom. 3 #1 picks plus Lanford who is a #1 pick and others for This... Worth considering.

Give me
G Williams
R Langford and all those draft picks and I am in.

Ya, to be honest, I luv Grant and unless we get some crazy return for him I'd prefer to keep him.
Maybe Plumlee Ellington Delon to Boston for picks and young players but keep Grant

I agree because no one will give equal value for him. If the Pistons trade him, it will be like getting 50 cents on the dollar.

Jerami Grant has about much chance of ending up on the Celtics as I do. I don't know why people are even wasting time entertaining the thought.

I think the Pistons are better than people expected so moving Grant now would be a step backwards in my opinion. With a good draft result this year they could be one really good player away from contender status after next year.

Better? They're the 2nd worst team in the NBA.

We’re pretty bad, no doubt, but we’re better than our record and tanking well. Pistons are actually 23rd (8th worst) in point differential.

Yes, but that's with caveats. This team plays hard, is competitive, and rarely gets blown out. Lots of losses that could have been wins, e.t.c.

This Pistons team, even with its poor record, is better then anyone thought they would be.

Let me take a crack at that...are closer to being a good team than people expected after one off season. I don't think they're still in a position of every player being considered expendable/movable for assets. For example, if the Pistons hypothetically had to pick 6-7 players they absolutely had to keep on the roster and could only tinker around with the other 5-6, I don't think a core of Grant, Bey, JJ, Stewart, Lee, DSJ and Svi is a bad start. And Sekou and Hayes could still turn into something over the course next season. The team is actually in a pretty good position moving forward, I think, as opposed to a last place team that's in last place because EVERYBODY sucks and needs to go, like they're all either tapped out veterans or never will be's.

Ainge better set his sights lower with the assets he'd be willing to move.

Nah I disagree. This board is filled with those who either seriously feared we could sneak in/compete for a playoff spot due to all the vets or those that were cynical AS USUAL and were preparing themselves to be picking 9th. There's those that probably to this moment are scared we'll go on a big win streak at the end of the season "like last season" (weird).

Having only the 8th worst differential doesn't surprise me at all as I was looking at that a few days ago, but I am legit surprised we've been able to parlay that into the 2nd worst record. So they're definitely WORSE record wise than I thought, and I still believe we can end up with the worst. I think our guys will be sold off and Minny will keep getting guys back. They're already competing better since Towns has come back.

All in all I'm absolutely satisfied with this season and the future direction.
