I'm not convinced Kennard is. If you can get a worthwhile player for somebody you're not sure is worthwhile- you sacrifice the second rounders.

It's that simple. Great trade.

I think it's a great trade just for the fact we don't have to see him miss 2 to 3 games for every 1 played plus the added benefit of not overpaying super role players like him

Yeah, that's the main reason he's not a worthwhile player. If he had a clean bill of health his value would have been higher.

I'm still amazed they signed him to that contract so quickly. A risky bet he would remain healthy, it would have seemed logical to see him on the court for a bit first.

Is there any chance we don't waive Cojo at the end of the season? He's been really solid but $12M is a pretty big overpay even if its just 1 year. I wouldn't mind him around but with Hayes and Lee around we don't really need a pricey vet point guard.

I'm sure Weaver took Joseph in trade with plans to waive him and open up that cap space. That said, unless Joseph has many more games with big numbers, we may be able to pick him up as a cheap free agent if Casey prefers him as a depth PG.

The overdribbling is annoying at times though. Reggie Jackson flashbacks I guess.

I didn't think it would be possible considering how he was playing before the trade, but the man is playing like a positive asset right now.

Even if Hayes and Lee are playing well through the rest of the season, you are going to want a veteran ball handler in the rotation and if CoJo keeps playing like this, I think Weaver might consider keeping him as that guy instead of trying to find the 2021-22 version of Delon Wright.

Disagree. The only reason to even consider keeping him is if you think you can use his contract as a potential expiring trade chip. As for having a veteran ball-handler, we don't need one - we're in a rebuild. And if the coach wants one to hand-hold, you certainly don't need to spend $12 mil on it. There are more PG options on the team now than when Weaver signed Delon Wright. And the draft may render yet another.

Can you even waive a player and then sign him? I agree you need some veteran stability at the one and who knows if next year will be another full-on tank year or not. Either which way, someone will notice and he will have one more good contract - though not at 12 million a year.

He makes $12.6 million of its fully guaranteed but only $2.4 million is guaranteed if he’s cut. He’d have to have a hell of a finish to earn that full guarantee.

I’m fairly sure that Quinn cook of the Lakers and Reggie Bullock of the Knicks had $1 million guaranteed on their last contract, got cut and then signed a new deal.

No way, his contract is one of those signed to be very tradeable, someone needs to get under the cap would give a lot for his deal, counts as 12.5 against the cap for a trade, if you cut him you save 10 million, I expect Joseph's deal to be used to acquire assets, I bet Weaver bundles it with a second or two to get another first rounder.

I can't really figure out why the Kings did this deal, Cory Joseph is on the same level as Delon Wright, plus Cory J's contract is a tradeable asset and they gave 2 2nd rounders on top of that, I think you have to score this as a Weaver win.

It's the Kings. They're guaranteed to make one or few head scratching moves just for the hell of it

But to play devil's advocate, Cojo is just bad at shooting and Delon at least has some rep as a steady off the bench PG that can somewhat shoot better than Cojo. They probably also got tired of his play style often slowing down the offense

CoJo is not bad, but he’s bad to watch. If we’re gonna suck another year, it needs to be watchable. Get him gone.
