I'm pretty sure it's all for the sake of entertainment and no one is going to stop watching games because all the players don't have catchy nicknames.

As an ancillary benefit though we get to see which posters seem to be worth meeting in person for a game, hanging out, whatever and which ones seem

like

no

fun
