Even if we held onto Middleton and Harris we would of just been a Pacers style team that never has any title equity. I'm more annoyed by the missed lotto picks over the years like missing on Booker and D.Mitch. Trading a lotto pick in a good late lotto for Blake annoys me as well.

Either way were in the best position we've been in since the going to work days right now. Not saying this one pick is vindicating all that either. Cade still has to work out. I still believe we need another good lotto talent to go with Cade in this coming lotto as well unless Killian is going to drastically improve in his 2nd season.

Bey might be that guy though

Long, athletic, can shoot it from deep.

Obviously needs to work on a lot of things but he's got some key tools already.

Hayes too, depending on his progression over the next 2 years

Yeah Beys great at what he does as a 3pt specialist. I'm not sure how much better he turns out getting though. Hes already 22 which limits his upside some. I feel hes going to be like a Tayshaun Prince a guy who hits his peak early and turns out being a solid 4th option on a contender. Maybe he turns out being like a T.Harris a guy who can be your #3 on a title contender if you have a really good duo which hopefully Cade is the first part of that duo.

Figure Cade hits to where hes like a Tatum/Pg13 type player we still need another big time guy to go with him. I mean if hes Luka Doncic you can get by with less around him but I think thats a big ask for him to be as good as Luka maybe as his ceiling but its a big ask. If hes PG13 or Tatum like a top 10ish type guy in the league I think everyone is thrilled. If you have a top 10ish guy we still need another top 20 guy and a good supporting cast which I think guys like Bey/Stewert/Killian can be those guys but I still think we need another good lotto pick or to sign like Zach Lavine or something. Maybe Killian turns it around and thats the guy we shall see but I'm hoping we can get another high lotto pick with some luck this season and really be set.

yeah this is about where I'm at. Personally I'm not expecting Cade to be Luka, Cade is a certainly a good passer but Luka is on another level there. Tatum would be a great outcome, I think Tatum with better playmaking would be an amazing ceiling for him. We will need another star type guy, most teams that have done anything this post season have multiple players of that ability. Bucks - Middleton/Giannis, Suns- CP3-Booker-(Ayton), Clippers Kawhi-PG, Lakers Bron-AD.

We will likely need to hit on another draft pick, ideally in my opinion another playmaker to play with Cade. Teams that over rely on 1 ball dominant player seem to struggle in the playoffs, so I would choose to avoid that structure if we can. It didn't work with Harden's Rockets, Luka's Mavs can't make it out of the first round, so I'm just not really a big believer in it. The only player it has really worked around is Lebron, and thats Lebron. Lavine is the obvious choice for free agency and would be a great fit, I have no idea how realistic that plan is though. We just need to be effective with our next few draft picks, wherever they fall in the draft

Cade is a playmaker and shot-maker in one, so his play style is more valuable than Tatum, more like Luka.

Troy is a better GM and has already built a competitive long potentially defensive athletic lineup around him, so the team ceiling is higher than Dallas at the moment.

Killian projects as a talented secondary playmaker, so if he develops that raises the ceiling of the team also.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Middleton pained me the moment the trade happened. I was never high on Singler, and Middleton seemed to play at least as well in limited minutes.

yeah, I did say Tatum with better playmaking, although Tatum's playmaking has certainly improved, hes over 4apg at this point. Luka is a 10apg type of guy, I don't think thats going to end up being Cade's game in the NBA but we'll see.
The key is going to be improving his ball handling in traffic, I definitely think his playmaking will open up more in the NBA than it did in college though

edit: it is interesting though, we would be building our own version of the slovenian national team that won the 2017 European Championships :D

Cade being our Luka, and Killian being our Goran Dragic (his most common comparison pre-draft)

While I love the optimism. No way our ceiling is higher today then Dallas with Luka. Expecting Cade to be Luka Doncic is asking alot. I love Cade but he has ALOT to prove to be on that level of a player. Luka is already a MVP candidate and the most valuable asset in the league today.

I think Cade will be the first Cade. If he is better than Ja Morant I will be happy

Agreed, i fall into the trap of comparing and projecting players, but at the end of the day every player is unique
