Frank Jackson

Just curious to see everyones thoughts on him and what we should do with him. I think his game is the perfect for modern day NBA and loved watching him last year. What sort of money should he get?

I also want him back. He's a good fit as a shooter with a team first attitude. His shooting might make him attractive to others but his size will hopefully limit that interest.

I'm thinking a three year deal for $10 million with the third year a team option might work.

He’s finally coming into his own. Casey helped him figure out his role as an NBA player.

Scratching the surface as a dead eye shooter. Good at spot ups, coming off screens, one dribble pull ups, and DHOs. Good cutter, can get up in space and take it hard to the rim. Straight line drives are explosive too.

He’s efficient and shown to be clutch.

Not good when asked to create. Bad as handler in pick and roll, gets lost. Not good at creating his own shot.

Hustles on defense, knows where to be, but he’s just not strong enough to hold position. Doesn’t have the reach to bother shots. Got picked on a few games during the season.

I don’t think he could ever be a starter in the NBA but a great 6th man. I hope other GMs haven’t scouted him much, because if they did, Frank Jackson getting paid.

I’m hoping for that deal 3yr 10 mil. But i can easily see someone offer him 3yr 15mil and I’d definitely match it. 3yr 21mil is about the limit I’d pay him.

This is exactly the type of player you want to keep with the talent, and incoming #1 pick. Both Cade, and Hayes are great at finding shooters cross court, in the corners, on the P&R, you name it.

He is the type of player contenders desperately need and are always trying to grab to come off the bench and light it up.

He fits the timeline, keep him even at an overpay.

The pieces I feel absolutely need to kept at least for this next season;

There are some notable players missing(Grant, Plumlee, J.Jackson)but that's more due to trade value, and timeline.

We don't have bird rights on him, which is probably why Weaver had mentioned wanting to keep his own guys rather than spend in FA. The big thing is, if we are going to pay him and try to keep him as a rotation player we need to lock him up for 3 years so there is a payoff for us for taking a chance on the kid.

The reality is we likely only need two of Josh Jackson, Diallo or Frank Jackson in the regular nightly rotation one of those guys is likely not in a 10 man rotation that also includes Cade and Hayes. Now if we trade down and get Mobley and a ton of other assets that could change the rotation a bit but if you think Cade and Hayes are in the guard rotation it's hard to fit all 3 of Jackson, Jackson and Diallo and neither Diallo or Frank Jackson will want to sign on to be out of the regular rotation.

Assuming a Cade+Hayes starting backcourt . Josh Jackson is signed. If you don't move him, how do you pay Frank and Diallo as well? Both of them are still looking to make a name for themselves and aren't looking to be the 5th guard on the roster.

Of course, with Weaver, who knows.

That's an underpay. He averaged 12ppg on 47% FG and 41.6% 3FG in only 22mpg over the last ~30 games once he started getting consistent minutes. Plus he's 23 years old so he should only improve.

I'd give him up to about $8M per year (hopefully closer to 6M) for a 2-3 year deal. With his instant offense and outside shot he's a perfect fit. Way better than Josh Jackson IMO. Cade and Killian need guys to kick the ball out to for open threes. Would be a huge shame if that's Josh Jackson clanging the rims instead of Frank.

Hopefully Frank flew under the general NBA radar, but somehow I doubt it. And hopefully we can find someone to take JJ.
