Agree to disagree. I think that's awful. Easy to pick the top and worst teams. The middle is tough and I think we won't be top and we won't be the worst.

Western conference
sportsbook actual
lakers 46.5 42
clippers 45.5 47
nuggs 44.5 47
mavs 42.5 42
jazz 42.5 52
blazers 41.5 42
suns 38.5 51
warrios 36.5 39
pels 36.5 31
rockets 34.5 17
grizz 30.5 38

spurs 29.5 33
wolves 28.5 23
kings 27.5 31
thunder 25 22

Thats the West. So last season 9 teams were outliers. The Suns and Hornets made huge free agent additions in CP3 and Hayward. Jazz added Conley who was an all star. Knicks had a most improved season from Randle(2nd team all nba) a free agent.

As far as the dissapointments. Rockets traded Harden.Magic were wrecked by injuries and traded their best player due to injuries killing their chances.Raptors and Celtics were surprisingly dissapointing I guess injuries slowed them down and under perfoming with talent.

Anyways looking at the outliers last season who actually gained wins nothing we did this offseason leads me to believe were going to be in a position to be the outlier compared to teams last year who had big free agents moves. Like I said if we grabbed DDR you could talk me into us having the turn around this season. Kelly O and a rookie of the year not enough.

Agree to disagree. I think adding a generational talent and adding shooting which was completely missing last year will improve our team. I think we win more than 30 games.

If we make the playoffs because CoJo and Olynyk have career years playing 30+ MPG I would feel less good about it but still happy to make the playoffs.

I just hope that If we are 18 and 32 at the trade deadline we make moves for the future versus trying to squeeze into that 10th seed.

I’m Team playoffs after taking a year off of watching us tank. BStein sums up my thoughts exactly

This isn't even a question. He's just phishing for how many people on the board are delusional. It's fun to be optimistic about your hometeam, but I mean c'mon.

This roster isn’t there yet.

I think we try to compete at the outset but we’re probably looking at mid lottery.

I don’t think we need to be “high lottery” or bust. We need to develop guys and if we win more than last year because of it that’s fine.

I'd try to make the play-ins, but think this is still a bottom 5-8 team unless Cunningham is run away ROY and one of last years FRP's makes a big step up.

I don't tank, I don't rest guys or play Sekou or even Stewart over Olynyk or Hayes over Joseph unless they're outplaying the vet in front of them.

Play to win first 2/3rds of season. But we're gonna lose. Last 1/3rd Detroit can play kids to "see what they have" aka tank.

Unless all the young players make a big leap at the same time and Cade looks better than advertised, this clearly looks like a lottery team at this point. Hoping for the playoffs, though.

The franchise is headed in the right direction. If there is huge progress, it'll be because of the young players.

I really, really, really wanted to vote "lottery" but it is important for Cade, Stewart, Hayes, and the young core to get playoff experience. If Cade is to become the superstar we need, then it's imperative he starts not only getting post season experience, but positions himself to get the favorable playoff ref whistles. It's advantageous the young guys make it their sooner than later.

That said, I think they are a lottery team, but not a top 4 picking squad.

I guess my argument is that the difference between a bottom 8 team and a play-in team is so close, it was literally within 2 games last year.

Chicago was a bottom 8 team with 31 wins
Charlotte was a play in team with 33 wins

It doesn’t take much to be a play in team.

No need for the harsh tone, this is for fun and I stated as much.

Having fun, and cheering for your team to win isn't delusional, it's hoping for the best case scenario.

That's the key to develop our guys. The best value you can create for an organization is having players on rookie contracts get better.

I'm not sure how good they'll be, but they won't be tanking.

We would have been like a 23 win team last season if it went 82 game’s. I think we can get high 20s/low 30s. I don’t think we’re good enough to be really in the playoff race, but with the play in part we kind of are by default.

I would like to think we’ll be slowing down with all the changeover, but you never know.

But you figure the 1st 9 might be the firsts from the last two drafts, Grant, Olynyk, Joseph, F. Jackson and Diallo. Doesn’t exactly scream playoff race.

I think the Pistons are going to be a pretty good team.
I think we would have been closer to a 24-28 win team last year if we'd played 82 games and weren't actively trying to tank the second half of the season. Add in a solid backup PF/C in Olynyk, Cade, and a year of development from our Sophomores... I think we're a 35-40 win team, assuming we're actually trying to be competitive all season.

We need a #2 star way more than we need the playoffs. I just want guys to develop and give me some basketball I can stand to watch.

I'm not really concerned about us making the playoffs though, since the whole Eastern Conference (minus like 4 teams) have seemingly sold out to hop on the treadmill and fight for the 7th seed.

Us making the playoffs would have to be a combination of Cade being amazing out the gate and all of these reloaded Eastern Conference teams failing spectacularly.

I think this team will be good this year, barely make the playoffs, but we are still a sparkplug scoring PG and a reliable rim protector/starting Center from truly competing.

Actually a perfect trade partner maybe the Pelicans. A midseason trade for both Hayes and Graham would put this roster where it needs to be. Hayes just has some negative press and might need a change of scenery and Devonte Graham next to Hamido would be a very good bench backcourt. Don't know what it would take to make the trade go through tho.

Overly optimistic view:
- All the sophomores take a huge step forward, each one starts in the rookie sophomore game
- Cade has a runaway ROY season
- Grant starts to play with efficiency like in the start of last season
- we make the playoffs

Realistic view:
- Pistons will be a top 5 pick again in the lottery. We probably need 1 more year of development before we push for playoff experience.

Look what happened to the Mavericks, yes they drafted a generational talent in Luka but they lack the pieces to make a deep playoff run. Their rebuild wasn’t thorough.
