But c'mon guys- just because there isn't much to talk about doesn't mean we need to talk about...this. Yeesh.
And it likely won't get any better during preseason. After last year no one talked about the Pistons competing for anything this year regardless of where the draft pick ended up; most of the talk was about another year of development via ensuring high minutes to projected future starters with no regard for wins and losses or even another year of intended tanking.
One draft and a summer league later and suddenly it's doomsday relative to non-significant impact signings, Hayes can't start next to Cade, Olynyk got paid too much, etc. Kinda like it went from "just do the right things to help the team get better in the future and be able to go after another big name after Blake's money drops off" to "OMG this is going to screw the team" when the players haven't even hit the floor yet. All Weaver has shown so far is that this is going to be another year of tinkering to find out what works. Let the process play out.
I don’t mind discussions like Hayes starting or not, at least that’s an important discussion relative to players who are part of our potential core moving forward.
Trey Lyles is a minor short term guy we signed to make sure we had 48 minutes worth of players at the four- and he’s paid like one.
