Watching some highlights of him he seems like he could play like an high IQ vet on offense. But idk. Not looking good for Sekou which at this point its whatever. Hopefully he's in the G league all season.

2nd year team option is important here. We don't sacrifice anything if he doesn't work out, he poses no risk to next year's cap situation. If he plays better than expected and works his way into the rotation, it gives us the ability to keep him for cheap and possibly look at trading Olynyk at the deadline if we want to create a maximum amount of space for FA signings next summer.

I thought the important part is that it came out of capspace and not an exception like previously claimed.

Further evidence Weaver and the FO know how to structure deals and work the cap to their advantage

You can officially add Zach LaVine to the Klutch crew as a 2022 free agent.

The free agent class is rough next year for big time names. I would at least try it and throw a max contract at MPJ, Surely they match though.

Hopefully we can steal some RFA somewhere

Yeah, I'm not saying we don't take a stab at someone, but if I'm honest I'd really prefer next year if we just shelled out some one year deals to get to the salary floor then took stock of our situation the following year.

Weaver hasn't shown that he's willing to approach our cap space in this fashion, but I can keep hoping. Otherwise we could be headed for catastrophe next offseason.

I think Weaver has overall done well with capspace. Definitely not perfect with the stretching, but that’s something I can live with.

My guess is he takes a stab at a player with potential like Grant around that 20 mil mark and does a couple short deals like he did this year keeping the cap flexible for the following year. I don’t think that would be a catastrophe.

There is no penalty for not reaching the salary floor!

Considering we weren't supposed to have any cap room until this coming off-season I'd say the FO has done a good job of creating flexibility the last 2 years.

I can't see us destroying that flexibility for a bunch of lesser players.

I too would like to see us roll most of that space over another year since we'll have a clearer idea of where we're at and what we need as a team moving forward.
