They are still negotiating with Benders voice, John DiMaggio, but a full 20 brand new episodes have been ordered for premiere in 2023.
Grant is still a Piston, but I at least have this.

Re: O.T. Bite my shiny metal ass!
Love the show.
Truthfully, I thought it ended on a really strong note and it kinda feels like they'd need to retcon the last episode in order to keep this thing going.
They kind of needed to pull a "just kidding" on the end of Wild Green Yonder to do the comedy central reboot, but I didn't mind that as much because I didn't love Wild Green Yonder.
While I did watch the finale and some of the episodes early in the Comedy Central era of the show, I kind of lost track of it in the mid parts of that era. Are they worth a watch? I absolutely loved the first 4 Fox seasons of the show. Really fun show and also damn good science fiction. Some of my favorite episodes of TV ever are from the first few seasons.
I'm immediately less interested if they can't get Dimaggio back, but I also can't imagine that won't get worked out.

Bender- "waiter give me a fuzzy navel and get the lady the girliest drink you got"
Waiter- "2 fuzzy navels coming up"

This is exactly what I hoped I was going to see when I saw this thread title. Great news!

The movies were great in spots, some of the jokes landed. I was fine with them, as they were a different format then the show. When you have to extend a thought past the normal 22 minutes, it can get off topic.Snakebites wrote:Love the show.

As for the reboot on CC, some of the best episodes of the show happened, particularly, "The late Phillip J Fry". Spectacular episode. "Prisoner of Benda" is another good one. There are a bunch, but some of them are outright turds, something that just didn't happen during its original run.
Now, I watch the show almost every night, before I fall asleep. I hated that the show ended, so I never watched the final, final episode. Now I can, as I know it's not the final episode anymore.

I thought the movies were fine but the writing felt a cut below the standards of the original seasons.
I won’t spoil the last finale, but I think when you watch it you’ll see what I mean about it being a difficult point to proceed from.

Uh oh. Better hope this is just a hard negotiating stance. Wouldn't be the first time a voice actor said they weren't coming back only to eventually reach a deal.

Yeah this has been a story since they announced the revival, but it's looking even less likely they figure it out after his recent comments. And to be clear I have no issue with DiMaggio asking for what he feels he's worth. He's not obligated to do anything.
That said, any chance this show has depends on his return. I wanna see this as much as the next guy, but if you don't have DiMaggio then dont even bother. They done **** up.

I remember a few years back when one of the major actors on the Simpsons “quit” over salary demands.
There was a back and fourth for months, including plans to recast, etc.
Eventually it was quietly announced they had reached a deal.
One can only hope that’s what eventually happens here. Even DiMaggio in that article says he hopes something is worked out.
The industry treats these guys as replaceable even though the ones that voice iconic characters like Bender really aren’t. My guess is that it’ll take time but that the studio will eventually relent. I know they say he’s being recast, but who knows.
If Hulu goes through with it, I feel for whoever replaces him. They won’t be the same and fans likely won’t be kind…

It has to get worked out. Fans of Futurama are die-hards. Hulu has to know this, so any recasting that isn't due to illness or death, is going to be met with brutal anger.
No executive can be that stupid. It'll get done.

I hope so, but we have no idea how far apart the 2 sides are. From my perspective it kinda feels like DiMaggio has them over the barrel though. The fans will definitely be rabid about this and it will only be worse if they produce an inferior product.

Yeah, like I said, the fans won’t be kind…
The only rub here is that an increase for DiMaggio necessarily means a raise for Billy West and the rest of the cast too. And West was likely already making more than DiMaggio since he voices multiple main characters.
We shall see.
