I don't think all that stuff is an issue unless you make it one. He's a scorer. That's what he does.Invictus88 wrote:Cowology wrote:Just take this exact same lineup... and insert Zach LaVine. That team is balling.
Man. I keep watching LaVine when he plays the Pistons. The dude can jump out of the gym but I don't know. I think something along the way just rubs me the wrong way and makes me think the guy is d-bag. Too much jawing, flying elbows, etc.
I have to believe I'm completely biased and my opinions are skewed but I just don't always see him doing things that contribute more to his team's success versus his own. Like, I think if he focused more on not taking plays off (on defense especially) and not always trying to make a highlight play and just make the *best* play for his team's success then he could be scary. But I also wonder what happens when his springs start to go away. It feels like so much of his game is predicated on athleticism.
I have to believe I'm going to get flamed here. My sample size is extremely small (just watching him play against the Pistons mainly) but I just don't see him as a player that really makes those around him better?
Flame on.
A guy who brings all that other stuff on top of what LaVine already does is an MVP candidate. It's one of those cases where you are better off appreciate somebody for what they do, instead of criticizing them for what they don't.
If LaVine isn't your guy I can appreciate that and won't flame you for it, but what he does he does well enough to bring positive value even with the flaws. It's not the Bad Boy or Going to Work era. Defense still matters, but it's a scorers league. He's a pretty good scorer.
