RPM doesn't speak well of him, 58th among SFs at -2.52 this year, for what it's worth.
He feels like an empty stats guy. Sure, he's showing up in the box score, but someone's going to score and rebound on a bad Magic team. The fact that they don't care to keep him shouldn't do anything to make you like him more either.
I'd rather throw some money Al-Farouq Aminu's way, that's a guy who can play defense. Pretty underrated player IMO.
People are interested in Harris because his efficiency has improved every year he's been in the league, and was up to a pretty reasonable clip as of last year.
His true shooting percentage was 55% last year, which isn't Jordan-esque efficiency, but is pretty darned good for a ranged player who doesn't have a whole lot of help or other players drawing the attention of the defense. He can also hit threes at a respectable clip and play both forward positions. He's not a great defender, but he can still complement a guy like Stanley Johnson, who is strong defensively but not polished offensively.
Aminu, on the other hand, is redundant. If we'd drafted Kaminsky I'd say give Aminu a shot. As it stands, we already have a defensive small forward with offensive question marks in development. No need to grab another one.
He's not worth max money, but I like the fit enough to be willing to stretch the worth a little bit, especially with the cap going up soon.
