Dallas may legit be the deepest team in the league. Kinda wild.

I'd love PJ as well, and I could see him becoming the odd man out in Dallas with Lively/Gafford-AD-Flagg: PJ is too good to be on the bench, but not better than Flagg or AD. I think a DET squad built around Cade, with a couple of bigs and a bunch of long wings, is a valid approach to building a contender, and PJ would fit perfectly in that kind of construct.

Unfortunately DAL would naturally be looking for a guard to balance their roster, and we are thin at that position as well, so I just don't see a deal unless it is built around PJ for draft compensation and neutral filler

Hmmm, wonder if we could absorb Cam Thomas into our TPE and then trade him to Dallas for PJ. Is that legal?

If you are thinking of signing him using space made available by the TPE then no. I don't think you can use it for signing FAs (only in trades).

It could theoretically work as
PJ to DET (under TPE)
Thomas to DAL (under S&T)

but unfortunately PJ makes just a little too much to fit into our TPE

We'd have to send out salary to make the trade work, and the guys that make enough and aren't currently trade-restricted (Thompson, Ivey, Holland, Duren) we really shouldn't be looking to trade.

TPE should be good. I think Sassar is expendable as well

Yeah I like PJ and the logic is logic-ing. This sounds better to me than anything else I've heard in terms of reasonable targets. Whether Nico wants to be a reasonable GM is another story. I wouldn't want to drastically over pay.

It's not a bad idea, but you imagine Dallas would want more. And that's where I think it would fall off the rails. Pistons aren't giving up a core young player for PJ. At least not now.

Dallas should be able to do better than a salary dump IF they decide to move him. Right now depth is a "good" problem. They have zero incentive to do anything other than wait for AD (or whomever) to eventually get injured.

Not at all. They wouldn't even pick up the phone for that.

That's not entirely true. They are an imbalanced team right now. Gluttony of bigs and deficient at guard. They have incentive to become more balanced. But not with Sasser. He's not going to cut it. Ivey might make things interesting for them, though. But not us, probably.

So that's where i thought, connecting the fake rumor we were interest in Cam thomas, that we could acquire Cam with our TPE. And then later on or right away, whatever is legal, we could trade Cam for PJ. Just a crazy thought

I was totally against trading for Zion a couple of months ago. But looking down the line, if Beasly can come back at the deadline. If I could trade Ivey, Robinson, Reed, the trade TPE, and a 2027 to op 7 protected for Zion. Especially if he’d be willing to come off the bench for the remainder of the season. He would be a game changer I think against guys like Towns and Gianni’s in the playoffs, not him specifically, but adding him to what we have we really make it much harder for those teams to game plan. Bringing in Stew and Zion in off the bench together would be overwhelming as hell especially after dealing with Ausar, and Ron. Something like
Min
Cade. 34
Ausar. 32
Ron. 30
Tobias. 28 (8 at sf)
Duran. 28

Lavert. 24
Beasly. 24
Green.
Zion. 28
Stew 20
I might just be really bored, but I think we could still be he we were, with Zion rolling in from the bench might be that Rasheed type of late season knockout punch on a weak east. We raise his value with winning and playoffs and trade him on his last season when we have to extend Ron.

The target is Bam Adebayo, the more I watch the tape the more I'm convinced he can coexist with Duren. He can also be the player that mentors Duren the best. If we can get him at the deadline for Sasser, To is and Levert plus 3 FRP and 2 FRP pick swaps, I'd do it. I think the heat do it because they are headed towards a rebuild and have no picks. Plus the Cap is going to increase year by year, which gives us the opportunity to possibly keep everyone and pay them if they take slight discounts.

Cade / Beasley
Ivey / Robinson
Thompson / Holland
Bam / Klintman
Duren / Stewart

Cade would be primary ball handler, Ivey the 2nd and Thompson the 3rd with one of them on the floor at all times.

There's a 6'10" 240 lb power forward who put up some excellent stats in the G League the past 2 years. This former first round draft pick, who played for 3 teams over a 5 year span, averaged 21.6 pts, 9.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists, shooting 50.5% from the field, 43.4% from the 3 and 89.9%! from the free throw line. His stat line and percengages were virtually identical the previous year too, while playing for a different G league team.

Now the down side. He's 28 years old and was bad on defense, as I recall. I doubt that improved. He's pretty slow, too.

Finally, here's the kicker-----It's Henry Ellenson!!

I vividly recall after his first Summer League with us in 2016 there were posters on here making Dirk comparisons.

There is like Zero chance Bam gets moved by the Heat unless it for Cade. He is the team captain and it is his team and he leads their workouts and offseason conditioning. He will retire there most likely. They have repeatedly said that.

I'd love to land Bam but there's just no way Pat moves him. That team will never embrace a full rebuild, and if they did he would cost the farm.
