Hope not. I'd rather just waive him than give up anything to move him. Also, I don't really want Weaver to have a bunch of cap space this summer.

Alrighty folks, good news and bad news here, mostly good.

Good:

1) Blake has likely played his last game as a Piston- I seriously doubt he's brought back into the fold after this revelation. I respect the work he's put in, that he's stayed in good shape and done what he can to be a good teammate, but it's definitely time for both parties to move on.
2) We can't trade a first rounder away- so we're saved from making a disastrous trade.
3) Rebuild is on! More time for Bey, Sekou, etc.

Bad:

1) Any number of other less appealing options are on the table, including stretching him. I don't think even Weaver will do this, but there's always the fear.
2) We lose our tank commander, IMO the team is actually better without him.

Overall I'm happy.

He’s owed a ton of money thru the rest of this season and next.

What’s a realistic buyout figure? $30-35 million? How would a buyout affect our cap, all you cap gurus?

Yeah I was thinking it could be Sekou or Svi. The pick is not possible, we would need to put protections in any pick we send out and that pick would be a top 18 pick if I'm not mistaken.

The other interesting news is that I believe they are trying to trade Wright too

Have to

Trading Blake hurts the tank

Trading Delon helps the tank and balances out the effect of trading Blake

With Anthony Davis out again with his achilles the Lakers might want Blake on the cheap if we buy him out. If there was some interest from them I could see him being motivated to get a chance for a ring, as well as sticking it to the Clippers.

I was about to post something similar. Blake landing with LAL makes sense for a number of reasons.

I feel like Dre and Blake will be bought out and will join the Nets.

Some rumors with the Sixers. But honestly, if Weaver want us to tank, Wright has to go.

Praise the lord.

As much as some complain about the CBA, it does have mechanisms that prevent or limit particularly stupid decisions.

A buyout at close to full value is likely.

Ah, found them. All they really say is that Philly has asked about it.

Nervous we’ll give up an asset to get rid of Blake. Which is counter-intuitive. Next year he’s a full on expiring so it’s really no rush. Weaver has all the leverage here.

I don't see the Pistons moving Wright at this point, as we are so thin at the point that it would leave us a mess on offense, bad for development. I also think they consider him part of the core veteran group brought in to set the tone and mentor the youngsters.

Feels like a mutual agreement for him to just sit out while we play the youth. A buyout or trade are pretty unlikely at the moment

It sounds more like a mutual agreement to move on which means he'll be moved in some capacity so it looks like he's gone either way.
I'm not sure what the buyout details of his contract are and how much the Pistons will be on the hook for and how long but it seems like the most likely path here.
