Re: PF targets
Detroit is a half season away from making it's big move. Ivey needs to prove his health, Duren needs to take another step and Thompson and Holland need a full off-season of putting work in. Get away from this draft with no pick and be at next year's trade deadline with an expiring Harris and Font monies, our pick ready to be able to convey right away and Ivey, Duren and one of Thompson or Holland at even higher value ready to flip.
Memphis will be in rebuild and not wanting to pay JJJ supermax money and thus will burn that relationship to where they need to trade him.
Bring back Beasley and call it an off season.
I would bid for Giannis, but we get outbid right now to the level I don't want to have an official offer leak and burn the comradery of the team for something that wouldn't happen.

Deni Avdija, I think he could be a great addition. He might be unbeatable for the Blazers. But he's been playing at an elite level.

Blazers counter with Robert Williams instead of trading away youth.

Would love to have him but I can’t see Portland moving him

This. I dunno about JJJ specifically, but it's the right approach.Kilo wrote:Detroit is a half season away from making it's big move. Aldama seems like a good fit and I've wanted the Pistons to go after Bobby Portis for years. But it wouldn't surprise me a bit if we ended up with a one year stopgap at the backup PF position like Trey Lyles. He's an unrestricted free agent, wouldn't cost that much, and is pretty average at all aspects of the game. No major strengths or weaknesses--a career backup who played decently when he was here before. Our PF of the future will probably come from next year's draft.

Oof.
In theory I get Lyles as a cheap stop-gap, but we’ve already gone down this road…and Lyles talked **** about the city of Detroit a while back, and will forever be on my **** list. If we are going for a cheap retread, i’d rather see a Kelly O return, but both of those moves would be pretty disappointing.
Rather give that money to Paul Reed.

I believe JJJ can't get supermax money he had to win DPOY. If he would have won DPOY he could have gotten a 5 year $345 million extension but now he's only eligible for a 4 year $150ish million extension so he's likely going to wait and become a FA in the summer of 2026. He's been pretty underpaid thus far in his career he will only make $23.4 million this year.

Re: PF targets
So fellas. What do you think about PJ Washington? Would Dallas even give him up? Maybe if they're targeting a KD and we got involved in 3team deal? Or Royce Oneil?
I want a smart, tough, defensive forward that can hit 3s. We got Holland and Ausar. Tobias. I want a 4th guy that we can throw on a teams top forward.
With Stew healthy we got a great backup center. That can slide down to PF against bigger teams.
With Ivey we should have enough scoring with Cade.
Shröder and Beasley are tops in league as backup guards.
Love Holland so let's hope he improves alot

Wouldn’t hate PJ, but concerns me that he is only 6 foot 6. Seems like he would expect starter minutes. He does the things we need though, so I wouldn’t complain.
Royce would be a nice stop-gap/vet presence too. A nice THJ replacement.

I see 6'7" or 6'8" everywhere but ya. He's still smallish.
Dammit, I want Markkanen. I know He hasn't been the most available guy but his size and his shooting. Next to duren. Dayammmmm.

Quick google search and ESPN saying 6 foot 6. Bball reference says 6 foot 7. Regardless, I’m game.
Wonder if Brandon Clarke may be an option. A bit injury prone and seems like an odd man out with a glut of bigs over in Memphis.

No 3s though for Clarke. Horrible shooter. Aldama. How can we get him.

If both Beasley and Schroder are back, there is neither cap space nor rotation space for another forward.
If either are gone, then the Pistons will be down either a crapload of shooting or a backup handler.

Someone did say that PJ was too small. Thus, was Rodman too small?

I'm down for PJ Washington lol. Think he would be great here. Plays big enough.

PJ holds up fine at power forward despite being short by the standards of the position, but I think it's worth noting that you're bringing up an extreme exception in an effort to prove a rule. You might as well bring up Ben Wallace as an example of why anyone can play center at 6'7" (his probable height without shoes) because Ben did it. Like Ben, Rodman was able to compensate for his size with fantastic athleticism. Only a very, very small number of players fall into that category. PJ is not one of them.

Rodman could jump out of a gym. He was probably one of the greatest rebounders of all-time. Hell the nba needs to change the word "Rebound" to "Rodman" I can see the headline, Jalen Duren had 16 points and 20 rodmans
