I could see us going after IT still in a package built around Moose possibly.

I'd rather trade for Dragic. He's older and on an expiring, but is a serious upgrade over Jennings, and a superior player to IT.

Why not? He's an unrestricted FA this summer, due for a big raise on a team who just committed a max contract to another PG (Bledsoe), a significant contract to Thomas, and has a rookie, Tyler Ennis in need of some playing time.

Doesn't sound like Dragic will have a ton of leverage in negotiations.

Dragic is alot more impactful and currently better. Monroe is also about to be a UFA who has no ties to that team and is even a bigger risk of leaving. Dragic is also a top 10 player at his position and was arguably top 5 last season.

Monroe has a unwillingness to waive his bird rights, however if the team who we trade him too has a ton of expiring or we include a ton of expiring. Moose may agree as they will have room to resign him. I think OKC would be our best bet

I don't think Monroe gets traded this season for whatever reason.

I think Smith gets traded. Despite Smith being an idiot on the court half the time he is an above average player who is best if he is your 3rd or 4th scoring option. I think he can really help a team that's already average team.

Kings is by far are the frontrunners. I mean they're two best players are similar to Joe Johnson and Al Horford(to an extent). My darkhourse in the running the Clippers.

I don't think Jennings gets traded either.

If we're looking to trade Jennings then he should be playing 30 minutes per

No one can convince me DJ deserves equal time with Jennings. BJ hasn't been jacking shots left and right but still gets shanked for "lack of effort"

Report just came out SVG offered a sign and trade to the Hawks for Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague over the offseason. As we know it did not happen but it's intereting. I think there's a good chance monroe gets moved now. There's no use in keeping your bird rights if you're the sixth man on a team that wins 20 games.

Monroe will want a sign and trade, if Detroit can even get a second round pick in return, they'd do it.

The more you look at the big picture, the more it seems logical that Monroe will ride out another disastrous season.

^And about $12M in matching salary coming back - that ain't worth a second rounder.

He's within his rights to act only in his personal self interest, but the Piston Org is within their rights to do the same and accepting garbage back just to appease Monroe heading to a capped out team he desired isn't it.

The BLOW IT ALL UP way to go:

1) Brandon Jennings to Houston for their TPE
They upgrade their PG spot for nothing.....maybe they throw us a pick just for playing.

Jennings
Harden
Ariza
Jones
Dwight

2) Josh Smith and Monroe to the Knicks for Stoudemire and a pick
J-Smoove gets to go to play with his buddy, Melo and the Knicks try to make a push for the 8-seed in the East.

3) We trade Caron Butler to anyone for a late 1st round pick. The Thunder, Grizzlies, and Cavs seem to always want another SF.

We play our kids and tank for a top-5 pick as if Dumars' Dunkin Donuts rewards card depended on it.

Dinwiddie / Augustine
KCP / Meeks
Singler / Datome
Jerebko / Mitchell
Drummond / Anthony

Thank you. The S&T option for a 2nd rounder that people are mentioning doesn't even add up. There's literally no reason for a S&T for a team that has the space to sign him outright, which is who you would be trading him to if all you're getting is a 2nd round pick and no salary.

Damn, That would have been sweet if we could have pulled that off.

That's an assumption. If a team has $9 million in cap space, and sign Greg for ~$13 mil, we would only need to absorb the ~$4 difference.

There's also the issue that Detroit can build bigger raises into a contract for Monroe, so they could set up a contract like that and send him to a team that has the cap space, with Detroit not taking any unwanted salary back.

There's a dozen different ways it can go down.

We'd have been a completely different team, with Korver raining bombs from the outside, and a legitimate point guard starting.

Call me crazy but a team that will have $9 million in cap space anyway can trade that same $4 million player for Greg straight up right now. And turn around and sign Greg in the off-season for that same $13 million.
