I don’t think anyone here dislikes Grant as a person. Some aren’t huge fans of Grant the player, but I think a majority respect him as a player/person and were just hoping we could get assets that fit our team direction for him

That’s certainly how I felt.

I don't think it's unpopular or to be sorry about. He's definitely a good dude unlike some locker room cancers we've had in the past (ahem Josh Smith)

Just not a great fit with Cade from what I've seen. That's really the crux of the issue, that and his pending extension

grant could easily average 17-5-5-2-1 on this team with good percentages. he just needs to buy into the team concept instead of playing like he needs to prove he can score.

When we get some established players around him I think we will see that. Until then I expect him to continue to be the top option on offense. I don't blame him when everyone else is wildly inconsistent and woefully inefficient.

Well, you know what that means. Tomorrow it will be reported that Grant will be signing a 5 year, $150 million extension.

So no matter what, Grant was going to be here.

Yuck - could have been huge offers.

There weren't any huge offers. No reports of huge offers means there weren't any.

Disappointed. Still have hope in the Portland trade in the offseason. Hopefully they pull in a big fish.

Comes off as they already had their minds made up. Hopefully they didn't turn down a good offer to be "loyal" or some bull.

Given how quickly the media will try to spin any hint of a possible trade into news, no report of a good offer = no good offer. In fact, there was no report of any offer yesterday meaning there wasn't one.

That isn't true not all deals are leaked to the public. Also it's be less than one day those reports don't come out immediately.

Grant found his money mark who will pay him max extension money. If he wanted to be in Detroit he'd play like it and not be trying to be something he's proven to be not to try and trick a sucker into giving him max money. Grant isn't playing to win or playing to help develop young players, he's playing to get paid.

Hey Detroit "I choo-choo-choose you" and Pistons Org and fan swoon because nobody ever chooses them. :banghead:

Is he better than Grant? I'm not so sure about that and he's injured all the time so his value was another band aid and a bad contract, seems about right. I don't think the two are comparable in terms of value IMO.

You may be right. If that's the best Dallas could get and they still decided to move him for scraps it says something.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

It IS true. If the logic used in this forum is that people can say they know what Weaver's plans were without him saying it, then I can certainly justify knowing there were no offers made (other than the Lakers) because the media didn't present any. I believe someone even used the adage "Actions speak louder than words," so in this case where there were not even words but no actions either, it's pretty clear there were no offers. Done and done. Nothing to see here, move along.

It's rumored that Grant will actually be offered a 6 year, $195 million extension later today. I can't name my source, obviously.

I thought it was 10 years, $225 million. A bargain!

This Grant business has distracted us from the real story.

Can we start discussing the implications of Griffin, Drummond and Brown being reunited?

How does it compare to the Morris, Jackson and Kennard combo?

It seems the league likes ex-Pistons in threes.
