Re: The Trade Thread
Turner? Another player who can't shoot and can't play without the basketball in his hands?

And get someone like a Kevin Love?

Re: The Trade Thread
If we trade Monroe I want to take back the least amount of salary possible. We need young guys still on their rookie scales or draft picks. Then you have about 20 mil in the offseason to flirt with.

Turner would only be good in a Tyreke Evans type role but for half of the money. He can't possibly be anything more than a nice bench player on a good team.

Would you guys be mad if we traded Stuckey, KCP, and Jerebko for Morrow and Evans? Haha

Lol Turners numbers are damn near the same as Smiths at the 3. I swear this franchise has no clue what they are doing. We need to either get shooters in here or pack it in for the year and secure our pick.

Re: The Trade Thread
I'd trade picks for Turner. I think the Pistons are at the point where their picks should basically be trade assets and nothing else. I don't want any more young players. I'm tired of going through these growing pains with inexperienced guys every year. If we can get good established players now (who are still young themselves) with the picks instead, who cares about a 2016 1st round pick?
If things go as planned, that will likely be a mid to late pick anyways, and who is to say we would find a player as good as Turner with that pick?
He might not fill needs that we have right now, but this whole roster is still turning over, so pieces currently here that don't fit may not be here next year. Which is why they shouldn't only limit themselves to trades that fit this current roster. If they can acquire good talent for nothing but future draft picks, you can worry about fit later.
They can also still get shooters in other deals as well.
That said, I would explore all possible trades using our picks first though, as I would prefer to use them in a deal for Rondo.

So one report has things dead at the Pistons FO, another report has a lot of teams calling about Monroe and Gores really eager to do something...

It would probably be an immediate upgrade that sells out our future potential in KCP. I'd rather give him another year to find his 3 point stroke.

That sounds familiar to what fans were saying when signing Smith

Q00 -- Agreed. However, it would be nice if they can start off by getting the shooters instead of stockpiling all the best non shooters in the league.

Well like I said when we got Smith, we need to continue upgrading our talent level. Things can be sorted out later. For instance, we don't know what other deals they could be planning. They could be trading both Monroe and Smith, and then suddenly Turner fits a lot better. Which is why its best to not turn down any bargain offers for talent, just because it may not fit at the moment.

Re: The Trade Thread
So one trade I thought of that might help would be this trade:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l2hhvjy
Thompson/Outlaw to the Pistons
JSmith, 6.5million TPE to the Kings
Landry to the GSWs.
Basically Smith for Thompson/Outlaw. GSW has been looking some big men help and really liked (from what I remember) what they got from Landry last season. They use a TPE to acquire Landry. Kings get Smith at the same number of years and money as the two previous PFs thus upgrading their PF from two role playing bigs to one starting PF while adding no salary as Thompson and Landry both have 4 years on their deals. Detroit gets a decent back up big that can play next to Jorts when Jorts gets back healthy, or a SF to put in place of Smith that at least plays SF. Next year he's an expiring, and we save money this year.

At what point do you start sorting it out though. I think its already well beyond time to sort it out. Turner is not the type of player we need right now and he would cost us 10mil per in the off season to even keep him. We dont have the money for him.

Re: The Trade Thread
3 trades to tank:
1) Smith, Jennings, and Datome to NYK for Amare and either Shumpert or Hardaway.
2) Stuckey anywhere for a lesser expiring and a pick. (Cash in Stuckey's decent play + expiring contract)
3) CV and his expiring to someone looking to shed salary. We take on an extra year of salary (a player who expires after next season, like Amare, Bynum, and Jerebko) to gain another pick.
The rest of this season = TANK
Next season, we'd have a roster full of expirings (Amare, Bynum, Jerebko, whoever we trade CV for) and hopefully a couple extra picks. And Dumars will likely be gone.
Tear down and let the new GM build around Drummond/Monroe properly.

Re: The Trade Thread
If GS is interested in Monroe like I'm hearing than I would pull the trigger on that. Barnes is still a good shooter and could still develop further and he's cheap for the next two years. We might need a little more back but I would start there.

I get what you are saying. With Drummond only 20 years old though, there's tons of time to sort things out. This team won't be a championship team for at least another 3 years, whether they acquire pieces that fit now or not. So I'm just looking at the big picture, thinking Turner could be a nice piece to build around with Drummond. He might not fit with Drummond, Monroe, and Smith, but Monroe/Smith may not be here in a few years, so I guess I'm just looking at it from a standpoint of him being a nice complimentary piece to Drummond longterm

Re: The Trade Thread
Almost Zero percent chance any GM in the NBA would be stupid enough to trade for Amare this year. If one does, they deserve to be fired.
